Today is my dad's birthday.

He would have been 94 years old.

He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and spent the first 10 - 12 years of his life there, and always considered it his home, even after his dad moved the family to California aound 1940, or so.

I thought that it would be a great birthday present for my dad if the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl in his birthday.

But, alas, it wasn't meant to be.

And to add insult to injury, it was the kind of game that he didn't like.

A blow-out.

He hated  a run away blow-out game, even if it was his team that was winning.

To be fair, the Chiefs just handed the game to the Buccaneers.

I mean, they were their own worst enemy today.

They just fell apart.

So, I'm sorry Dad, that your team couldn't play worth a darn, let alone win the Super Bowl on your birthday today.

😞

@Anonymous032819.  I understand. Parental birthdays are always sad and kind of lonely after they're gone.  You want to give  them a hug but nobody's there.  Happy birthday to your dad.

The best gift to honor your Dad on his birthday, was to remember all of the love and respect you gave him when he was alive.

I'm sure that meant more to him than who won a football game.Heart

Happy birthday to @Anonymous032819's Dad, she loves and misses you!

I think Anonymous is remembering Dad in a special way, with things he loved and by also interjecting self into the memory, both likely loved sports and this was just a special day, thinking the Chiefs might "win one for the Gipper" (sotospeak).  I know that is from Knute Rockne and the Notre Dame quote and I copied it, but I think she was remembering how she loved him and in a way that was special to them both and hoping for a win.  I think it is sweet.  My kids might remember their dad in such a way.

❤️

Think of it this way, perhaps...in Heaven...his team is winning...and it's a real "nail-biter!" 😉

(ps. I "get that" blow out thing...I think no one thinks that's ever a "great" Super Bowl game...I think people like to see real competition happening and the excitement of a nail-biting win...nerve-wracking as they are!)

Happy Heavenly Birthday to your dad.

What a nice thought.  Your dad loves you no matter what.

My dad had his 89th birthday yesterday. I took dinner over and we ate, talked, and laughed.  I jokingly told him he had to be the good luck charm for the Chiefs last night. He called me later and teased me that he wasn't able to wave a magic wand.  We had a good chuckle.
