This is one of the best of these I've read about, heard about or seen.  Were it not so dangerous, it'd be roaring laughable.

These scammers know  no boundaries.  What lengths they go to.

I'm your grandmother and I need $50,000.00 to pay bail and bribes to the foreign authorities! Don't let your granny linger in jail right before Christmas!

The problem with this particular pitch is that, as I pointed out in my tongue-in-cheek response, David Bowdich is a real person who holds that position in the FBI. Putting in a checkable, real fact might induce someone to believe it's real and follow up. I don't know what next steps were indicated, but assume sending bank details or actual money would be part of it.

It was a little strange that someone would include the ZIP code of JFK. But scams work because the mark wants to believe badly enough that he or she suspends disbelief and disregards the warnings that the pitch is fraudulent. It works that way in romantic scams, from what I've read.

@Icegoddess LOL! The scammers are too stupid to have these emails written by someone whose first language is English!

Many errors -- a dead giveaway if nothing else.

Well, these days it might be hard to tell since they seem to have stopped teaching grammar, spelling, sentence structure, verb conjugation, and pronoun use in this country.  Smiley Wink

@Porcelain I think they usually save that tactic for drug dealers and murderers.

Ohhhhh. No wonder they kept having the dog sniff me and kept trying to get me to drink out of a paper cup.
