I totally agree

In my community, CVS & Walgreens came to us at different times of the day. Management was not told which pharmacy had which vaccine. Once they came, the line was longer for Pfizer which is what CVS had. Walgreens had both vaccines *at that time.*
As far as I know, as of **today** Rite Aid in my neck of the woods will get the next batch of J&J.
I'm in no rush.
@Mz iMac, I wonder if any areas allow people to choose. I just think that might turn a nightmare into a meltdown. I'd be curious to know if any major areas have given that that choice.

@Porcelain Yes, I have posted in the past, that it is possible for some of us, in some states to do this. I got my first dose this way, but had to quickly be ready to get to my vaccine site within 15 minutes.
that was a one time thing. My next appt is scheduled!

My cell phone is my only phone. When I got my call, I answered, and responded. It wasn't glued to me. It was in the next room, but I was given enough time to answer

@suzyQ3 In N.J., you have to call the pharmacy. A recorded message will tell you which vaccine the pharmacy has. If it's the one you want, you can sign up right on the pharmacy's website. You don't have to go to the State's COVID website. The only time you go there is to get your local "vaccine" pharmacy phone #. The site has a list of every pharmacy/vaccine site in N.J. that has the vaccine, the county they are in, their address as well as their phone number so you can go to their site to sign up if they have the vaccine you want.

@suzyQ3 Where I live, I think it's more or less known in advance, whether to expect to get a two dose vaccine vs one dose.
If you go for a two dose vaccine, you may not know until you get there, if you'll get Pfizer or Moderna. To me, they're very similar, so I wouldn't care about that aspect.
it matters to those getting the J and J (given out as Janssen where I live). Some of the people coming to get this at our last mass vaccinating site, had to travel quite a distance to get it. I think they made this trip, knowing that they wouldn't have to make a return trip. One and done.

@september, going through LA County here, we knew which vaccine we would be getting. I don't know whether that is true through all channels.

Thanks so much for sharing that!
I just sent to my daughters and she said she has already signed up for that, but I hope others can sign up for it.
I know it's so hard to get a vaccine without lots of frustrations in many areas!
Others have said they have been calling their Walgreens and asking if they have extras and are able to get it!

Oh, so conceivably you can call a few to try to find the one you want? If so, that would be a luxury considering that in some places you arelucky if you can a slot anywhere. But this will change very soon. @Mz iMac

Good for you! Way to be resourceful.
It will be available to everyone in May, but I hope to get it before then.
I typically dislike drama queen thread titles, but in this case I'll allow it. :-D
