That to me is even sadder than any movie. The real animals

waiting and waitng for their owners to return that I see when

I volunteer.

If I was into acting and had to cry, I could do it in an

instant.

God Bless you for volunteering.  I couldn't volunteer at an animal shelter because I'd want to bring them all home with me.  So I just make money donations instead.

I am so glad that animal adoption agencies put their photo and bio online now, because when DH and I were looking to get a dog, I just couldn't go in person anymore because the look in their eyes just broke my heart.

The world needs more  people like you.

I do love the songs.

The songs were great.

@MLM21, No you’re not the only one who never saw it or has a desire to ever see it. In 1994 I was 40 and it didn’t appeal to me then or today......

Re: I'm Crying Already

[ Edited ]

I was 17 when the original debuted. At her parents' request I took the little girl I was babysitting to see it. She sobbed a bit. I think I more so reacted to her reaction and got a little teary, but then I hadn't experienced any personal grief yet like @Anonymous032819 recently has. My condolences on the loss of your father. 🌹

I'm taking my daughter (who is older than the child previously mentioned) and two of her friends to see it soon. My son has aged out of interest in these types of films. These girls, having viewed the original on DVD know what to expect and should handle it just fine. I will, too. The real life threats to wildlife (and domesticated animals) bother me much, much more.

I wonder why it had to be remade. Why most all Disney - all movies - do.  I see nothing wrong with the originals and prefer that animation over the often creepy CGI.

I am one of those who always cries at this movie/show. The stage production was incredible and also brought me to tears every time I have seen it. The first note at the beginning of the show/movie gives me chills and makes me smile every time I hear it.

That said, I am not sure how I will be able to handle the death of Mufasa (which is one of the crying times). Since I cry at the cartoon, it will be much more emotional seeing a virtual reality animal dying. I stay away from most animal moves because they make me too emotional, but I have to see this. And the tears at the end are happy tears, whch I am looking forward to.

And for those who have not seen the "new" Dumbo yet, please don't waste your time or money. All of the heart was taken out of this and new really stupid scenarios were put in. Besides that, once they sang "Baby Be Mine" on a ukelele, I was out.

We saw the original but we are not interested in this newer version.

Yes, many movies have sad moments, as in Bambi, Old Yeller, Lion King.

Even the movie UP had a tender scene when elderly Carl's wife Ellie died.

But all of these are stories of survival and renewal; lessons that may seem too harsh for younger audiences but lessons nevertheless.

I saw the original and the theater lost it's A/C. There were so many people in there, and I didn't realize there wasn't any A/C until after the end. Everyone got tickets to see another movie for free because of it, which was nice. The movie was amazing and almost everyone clapped at the end. It's my favorite Disney cartoon. My brother saw the live show and he really liked it.

I'm sure he'll take his daughter to see the new movie, but I'm not interested. He was playing the live action Dumbo at his house last weekend and it was extremely depressing, even more than the cartoon version. I just don't have a desire to see any of the Disney remakes. I think they need to start coming up with fresh ideas than these quick cash grab remakes.

@esmerelda   so there're at least two of us.

---------------

Make that three!!  Just never became curious enough to watch any version.

No, make it at least 4 of us .....  I didn't have small children at the time so I am not drawn to Disney cartoons.

Question for someone who has seen it  .....  is Mufasa an animal or a person?  TIA
