@sissel  Funny.  Same here.  The box keeps SO much longer once it's opened vs a bottle.

@candys mine @sissel   Agree!  Boxed wine for me.  I get mine at Trader Joe's.  Pretty good stuff!

One of the first things I stocked up on = Merlot!

One of our local breweries has changed their recipe a bit and is now using its alcohol to make hand sanitizer and spray-on disinfectants.  Donating to hospitals and health centers right now and will eventually sell to the public.   They are keeping all their employees on the payroll too.     If companies want to do this, they really don't need an executive order.

@Annabellethecat66I've seen open bottles of good liquor sold at garage sales, not that you'll be doing that any time soon.  However, you might want to check into the legality in your area so you know what's possible whenever it makes sense.   Or just let your heirs figure it out years from now -  that stuff doesn't go bad!

When we cleared my mother's house, we found liquor from the year my older brother was born 10 years before me.  That means those bottles were well over 50 years old!

@sissel

My husband agrees.

We've sampled a lot of wine from many Maryland and Virginia wineries and started our wine journey long ago with California's Simi Valley wine.  My favorite at one time was Wente Blanc de Blanc.

However, DH started buying boxes some time ago and when I drink (not often now), I find little difference in the best we've had to the box stuff.

Maybe I have bad taste buds, but we got tired of opening bottles and storing them.  This makes it perfect to have a glass now and again.  And, as you stated, it stays good for a longer time.

Cheers!

My DD read a meme on FB that said through this pandemic we are either going to become good cooks or drunks.  My DD predicts she will become the latter.

Nay, we shall all become a better drunk because we will all be safe in our homes and will not be putting strangers at risk.

We might even have a better relationship with the bathroom and when we use the toilet face first we will not be concerned if we are sick with the virus, we will blame it on the drink. Boy, that would relieve so much anxiety and stress.

All Long Island, NY wineries have closed their tasting bars for now.

Consuming alcohol will weaken your immune system. I would not be drinking it, even in moderation, during this time.
