Re: I lost my cat suddenly....

So, so sorry.  Cats have been a part of our family for over 30 years.  Every time we've had to euthanize one of them it has been a heat breaking time.

Re: I lost my cat suddenly....

Dear @mariadomenica

That was a horrible shock for you and your family.

Take all the time you need.  Take care of each other.  Don't deny that this was important.

It doesn't matter whether you're an at-home person or a go-to-work person, losing any special member of a family is devastating.

When I lost my first cat with whom I was very close, I remember not wanting to get out of bed for about three days.  And I knew it was coming since she was diabetic and I was giving her insulin shots and she was elderly, too.

Take as much time as you need.  (And if for whatever reason this thread ends up being moved to the Pet Lovers forum, that doesn't mean anything at all except that maybe more pet lovers will see it and share your sadness and try to uplift you as time goes on.)

Re: I lost my cat suddenly....

Oh @mariadomenica - me too!

She jumped up on the couch to sit next to me Tuesday afternoon, like she did every afternoon and she was breathing funny - really fast and just went  limp.  I knew something was very wrong when I was able to scoop her up and put her into her carrier to take her to the vet.

Whatever it was paralyzed her because the vet couldn't get any kind of a reaction from her.

I'm heart broken, devastated.  Miss her so much.

Re: I lost my cat suddenly....

@mariadomenica I agree with you that the grieving process takes as long as it takes.I hope that your family will be able to get out of the house for a bit after a time.

I think a beautiful sky, green grass, trees, water and all of nature has the ability to heal much faster than 4 painted walls.

There is nothing wrong with experiencing the heartache but from my memories it was too

painful.I will pray for your heart to begin healing so that one day you will remember Diesel without tears.

Oh, Domenica, that is so sad!   You are still in shock from it. Try to understand that he didn't suffer and concentrate on that.    He probably had a congenital condition.

It is devastating to lose a part of the family, I know.  Try to explain to your son, that kitty's heart had a weakness but your other pets DO NOT.

And, you focus on that fact, too!!   Your animals will pick up on your moods, most likely, so hold them close to you and just hug and pet them so you can comfort each other......

Re: I lost my cat suddenly....

@mariadomenica   I understand completely.  Years ago, when my dog passed, I was bedridden for a week, couldn't do anything due to the sobbing, but did get up to feed the cats and other dog and take a shower, but that was it.

It seems it will never stop hurting, but in time it will, just have to push forward.  I have had so many pets pass through the decades, never easy, some hurt far more than others, one cat still makes my eyes water whenever I think of him,. and he has been gone since 1990.

All we can do is know that we give our pets all the love and care we can, and that when they go, it is to a better place, and I like to think we will all meet again one day. Smiley Happy
