I was thrilled to retire. It was a block to the company parking ramp and I think I floated to it. I never had to adjust because I was so happy. No regrets.

DH and I retired two weeks apart ( both worked at China Lake ) and then drove across country, took a back to back cruise to Europe, did six weeks touring Enland, France, Germany, Italy. Flew back to Florida, did Disney World, NASA, drove back to CA. Moved three months to AZ mountains. That was 16 years ago; love retirement!

@depglass , I agree.

I retired at age 62, after working 42 years non-stop (No maternity or medical leaves, etc.)...

Sure, I "left some money on the table" by not waiting until I was 65, but I would not trade my contentment for a few more measly dollars for anything.

No more stress, office politics, commuting for 30 minutes, etc. etc. etc.

I am totally and absolutely LOVING it! ♥

Re: I like being retired

I retired at 51 in 2014, went back in 2018. I loved being home.

I'm planning on leaving in 17 months, December 6, 2024

I am anxiously awaiting my retirement from the federal government on December 3rd! I will be 60 and I have no doubt I’ll stay busy with long-postponed projects around the house as well as hobbies. It was fun reading everyone’s posts - sounds like the vast majority find retirement to be bliss! 😊
