What a fun and interesting thread! I am getting such enjoyment from reading all the stories.
I think having children predisposes you to feeling the passage of time more. I'm the same age as many of you, but still feel 28 in my head, no kids to provide the timeline. I am active and engaged in life and have a ton of friends of all ages. The one thing that had me thinking about getting old happened a couple of months ago. Beautiful day, pups was home with me instead of at doggy daycare, so I thought it would be fun to take a long walk. Put his harness and retractable lead on and headed out for the new neighborhood going up near our place. I was distracted by this big construction crane when puppy took off at breakneck speed chasing something. Before I knew it, he had gone out the full 30' of the lead and pulled me forward, lost my balance, landed on my knees and elbows and face on the new asphalt. Horizontal in no time. Thud.
This is where I realized I must be getting old: my first thought was, did I break anything??? No, I was just fine, just some scrapes and bruises. But I did think how easy it would have been to break a bone AT MY AGE!

Well, this old f*rt is heading off to bed. One of my cats has a bad habit of waking me up between 2:30 and 3:30 A.M., so I need to get my beauty sleep in before he starts his routine. LOL.

I'd feel worse, if a kid thought I was Santa's mother.

When my liver spots became too many to count.
When going to the mailbox at the end of the short driveway is a major outing.
When reading junk mail is the highlight of my day.
When it takes much longer to get up than it did to sit down.
When I'd prefer sitting down to getting up.

I think you mean milk chutes. LOL. Don't recall those, but I do remember 5 cent milk we had with our school lunches. Mom would wrap the nickel in a corner of a handkerchief, tie it in a knot so we wouldn't lose it.
I love your avatar.
