Personally, I take advantage of every discount I can get!!!  AARP and other groups that I'm a member of offer tons of discounts on hotels, places to vacation at, places to visit, restaurants and the list goes on.

AAA auto club offers tons of discounts.  I also am a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau where I get a discount on my auto insurance.  As a resident of Ohio, I also get discounts on a Golden Buckeye Card.

So it's not all bad turning 60!

I know several young people who were brought up using the term "ma'am" in a polite and respectful way and it has nothing to do with the age of the perosn they are addressing.

@straykatz...I mentioned earlier that I live in CA. Many people out here are not as polite and respectful as in other parts of the country unfortunately.
