It's fine but never use wax paper. There was a segment about that on this weeks episode of the kitchen. Surprised me how most of the chefs on the show thought it wasn't so bad to use wax paper in the oven.

@Lali1 I didn't know they still made waxed paper, and haven't used it in probably 20 years.

I've had some in my cabinet forever. I used it once accidentally thinking it was parchment paper. Not good at all. The whole house was smoked up.

[ Edited ]

I've used wax paper to roll out pie crusts and cookie dough.  Also to line pans for  items such as fudge.

I haven't done so in years but still have a box of wax paper.  It's been banned to the back of the closet and is quite falling apart.

I'm LOL at those who still have one but haven't used it in years.  I can relate.

@Sooner

Oh sure they do!

I always use it in the container that I put my fresh baked goods in, like cookies, brownies, etc

@Sooner    I always use waxed paper to put my freshly baked cookies on as I remove them from the cookie sheets.  I also use it occasionally to cover food in the microwave or to separate layers of something like bar cookies that I freeze.  I use waxed paper quite often

I just learned not to use recycled paper towels in the microwave. I bought a new microwave and I read through the manual. The manual said this is because recycled paper towels often have flecks of metal in them. I don't think I've used recycled paper towels, but in this pandemic I might have to take whatever I can get.

Interesting!  I do learn something I never knew from a few here every time I log on!  I won't be using paper towel in the microwave anymore.

Re: I just learned not to use recycled paper towels in the microwave.

Lots of chemicals in recycled paper products.

Used to sanitize all of the various donated contaminated paper that they use to recycle paper.

Sometimes I have to air out paper towels and TP to get rid of the chemical odor.

Keeping in mind that sometimes they (stores) store paper products next to laundry dryer sheets and detergents.

My side porch is handy to 'air out' various things, including mail, packages, etc.

@Mindy D    I bet recycled paper towels are sold in hardware stores for shop and industrial, not kitchen use.  They wouldn't market a kitchen product that couldn't go in a microwave.

@gertrudecloset @Paper towels are OK as long as they are not made from RECYCLED paper.

@Kachina624 @I've seen them for sale with the regular paper towels in the grocery story.
