I'm sorry for all of you having frustrating medical issues!  They system seems to be broken or on its way.

My son had been having pain in his lower abdomen.  He tried to get an appointment with a doctor he had gone to once before but couldn't get an appointment.

He tried someone new but was able to only see the PA who suggested an ultrasound after an exam.  His ultrasound appointment was over a month away and his pain was getting worse and not easing up.

He finally asked me what to do...honestly I just didn't know so he decided to go to the ER.  I told him it could be a long wait since his issue isn't an emergency.

He arrived at 11 am, they finally saw him a few hours later and they gave him a CT scan.  He left by 6 pm.

Fortunately they didn't see anything and they gave him the name of a gastro doctor to see.  He was able to get an appointment a few days later (amazing!!) and so far the doctor thinks it might be IBS.  We will see.

I have to agree that there are times when you really need to see someone and can't wait weeks or months!  The wait times are ridiculous.  My son ended up going to the ER.  I always beleived that the ER should ve used for a true emergency....but DS had no other choice.

This is why ERs are overcrowded even though theres an Urgent Clinic on every corner in our town (and Im not exaggerating either) but like someone else said they arent very much help!!! ....I told my doctor about the Urgent Care visit which happened on a weekend and  she actually laughed when she read the Urgent Care's report....SMH! I ended up going to the ER and they resolved the situation...Yep you got a problem go directly to the ER so you can get some REAL HELP!

@hckynutjohn , I hope you are not caught up in the CHI ransomware problem.  I have read patients went to their schedule appointments, but because the records were not accessable on the computer, the clinics and hospitals they were going to didn't know anything about them, couldn't access their records and told them to go home.  It seems like quite a mess.

Wishing you good health from just a little ways west of you.

@new nickname 4

Several of my doctors are connected to CHI, as is my 2nd home, the hospital. I have had many appointments, 2 on the same day, over the last few months.

Along with that quite a few Medical Procedures, like Heart Cath/Pandoscopy(Endoscopy and Colonoscopy combined)/Echocardiogram, and Doppler Ultrasound, just to name a few. And then there was 3 days in the hospital.

So far so good as far as ransomware goes. No problems or mix ups with my many visits. Hopefully it continues because I need it.

Thank you for your health well wishes to me, they are greatly appreciated.

My best to you also,

@Kachina624  I'm saying 🙏🏼 prayers for the baby in your family with RSV. I've heard it's a huge problem in the hospitals.

@1Snickers    Thank you for your thoughts.  The baby took a turn for the worse last night, was taken to the hospital and they admitted her.  She's in good hands now.

I hope things work out well for your son. At certain times, you do what you have to do.

On my job I had many discussions with certain bosses that had a different definition of the word emergency than I did, and still do.

Since I had no kids, they felt nothing in my life could be an emergency, unless it was health related. Like thinking I am dying, to a couple of them.

My go to preventing long discussions? "I am having chest pain"! They couldn't get me out of there fast enough. They didn't want an employee's death, on the job, in their resume'.

Don't know your son's age, however adults should get to know how to read their body, and be better able to read its signals to them. Long lasting pain is certainly one of them. ER's are there not just for people who are at deaths door.

Between my wife and I we have been to an ER more times than i can remember. In all but a couple of times, we ended up as inpatients. My feeling is if a person is in a lot of pain, and it is something they are not familiar with? Better to err on the side of getting a diagnosis, the quickest way possible.

Again, be able to read your body, and heed its signals.

Best to your son with his possible bowel issue.
