@bmorechick wrote:@Nonametoday I have a co-worker who uses Mrs. Meyers Clean day laundry scent boosters. But she uses all Mrs. Meyers products. To me, the products are kind of pricey for the amount you get. I'm thinking this is a plant based product line.
Thank you. Had not thought about Mrs Meyers. I use the soaps and dish liquid and hand soap for the kitchen. I thank you for that. I think I will try that. Had not thought about it. I use vinegar in most of our loads. Not in my bras (Wacoal) because they are very expensive and hard to find. I think they might be too fragile for that. I use the little laundry bags for them and my panty hose if and when I wear them, as well my silk scarves.

Thank you. I am going to try that. I appreciate your positive response.

@Etoile308 wrote:@Nonametoday, I'm confused by the title of this thread and curious why posting about laundry beads would be a taboo subject.
I think if you read some of these elementary responses, like lectures to your college-age daughter who is about to go off for the first time to do laundry, you would understand. I don't need a darn lecture. I asked a question, which I explained, was going to be taboo and it was. Some people will not read the whole question, they just leap without thinking about what I actually asked.

@shoekitty wrote:the strong smells of laundry deodorizers nauseates my husband and I. I can smell the strong odor on people clothes while in line, or close by in the stores....or out in public. Febreze is one product that has horrible smell. To me anyway.
some people don't know how to do laundry, especially young adults that haven't been taught those skills. They put jeans, underware, old bath towels and such in with together. Sometimes the smell of the bacteria on old towels clings to clothes. That is hard to get out. So they use deodorizers. Other maybe like the smell of the deodorizers. My granddaughter and grandson used one at home that woukd permeate the whole room and hallway when they came to to visit. We'd open windows, turn on fan and close their door it is so bad. They don't notice it all, and barely smell it
my one granddaughter who has a baby 1.5 yrs, always uses unscented special detergent for babies only. No scents ever. Not in bath soaps,or any of his stuff. It is bad for them to breath in.
there is this organic type product she uses called Mollys Suds, and it also deodorizes, or neutralizes odors. Especially protien stains and odors. They use it on their own clothes that had baby poo or throw up on. Lol
I found something that sounds similar to that a few years ago and don't recall where I bought it. I don't know why I quit using it. Thank you. It's not that my clothes smell bad. I just want them to smell clean, like they did when we used to hang them on the clothes line in the sunshine. Dryers dull the fresh smell of towels.

to every negative nellie who tried lecturing me like I am a child and that was about 75%.
Recently, I had an injury, in which I sustained a mouth/throat bleed, a broken foot, a chip fracture of the elbow, a dislocated shoulder, a black eye and two broken teeth, injuries to my shins bilaterally and ankles. Lacerations to both hands and arms requiring many, many stithches. After all that was fixed but my mouth, I presented to the ER five times when they could stop the oral bleed.
The last time I bled before hospital admission, 3 weeks after my originall fall, for 1-1/2 hours at home trying to stop it myself. I soaked 4 gowns and 2 robes with blood and my hair before I called paramedics who tried for 1+ hours at a teaching university instructions but were unable to stop it.
Finally they transported me to a hospital, the only one that would accept me with that type bleeding, and it took them 3 hours to stop the bleeding. They changed my gowns 5 times.
After admission, I had several bleeds that were able to be stopped over the ensuring week, but the day I was to be discharged because bleeding was so minimal, I began bleeding while dressing to go home and bled for 3+ hours.
So I had a lot of my own bloody clothing to clean and we used peroxide and Spray 'n Wash. The two together cleaned them very well except for one gown. I will wear it because it was almost a brand new Eileen West. Each time I wash it, the blood fades more. We used that on them to wash them and then rinsed them with vinegar.
All the odors are gone and although they don't smell like blood, they don't smell fresh.
After the bleeding was stopped --- to finish the story --- I was taken to surgery for a small surgical repair. They found part of a tooth that was broken during the accident which had flung a piece of enamel into the hard-soft palate junction and the bleeding got worse with each ER visit, the next time it started.
So that was over 3-1/2 weeks. I had not eaten anything but applesauce and jello so I'm tired and don't feel like having all the lectures. I just wish some would think before they speak. I thank those of you for your very considered and thoughtful responses and for those of you who tried to lecture me as if I were a new high school graduate about to go off to college the first time and did not know how to wash clothes, you have a good day.
Now that we have found that the reason that bleed was hard to stop was that the tooth chip possibly hit a cancer that had apparently been there for sometime, which my dentist identifed a year ago which he believed was cancer, but which two oral surgeons and an ENT felt was not a cancer, and biopsied it to be negative. However, things have changed over a year.
I will be careful how I respond to others' questions in the future, and I hope you will too.

Some ideas.
Add a little white vinegar to laundry and it helps with odors without all the fru-fru smells. For an xl load of towels, I add 1/4 cup into the water before adding clothes.
Tide makes a great odor eliminating liquid detergent. I use the free and clear version since it's unscented.
Arm & Hammer makes an 'odor blasting' liquid that is good too. I haven't found it unscented but the scent in very light.
