Re: I have tried to like the new forum format, however...

Hi John,

I agree with you 100 % and you are probably correct in your reasoning although I'm not sure of QVC's position in reducing the posters here. Nevertheless, the entire change is truly a disaster as far as I am concerned so whatever it cost them to change it must only benefit them ultimately. We have certainly seen a huge number of unhappy forum users haven't we and I don't expect it to change. This is not warm, friendly and inviting like to old one was for sure. This one is really so isolating as well. Before I felt like I was posting with friends. You are correct, there isn't much joy in coming here anymore. I haven't decided if I will stay or not but I doubt it seriously as it isn't enjoyable and I don't foresee that changing.

I may not run into you much so let me wish you and Cindy and all of the "children" my best. I hope you have been well my friend. Have thought of you two during all of this bad weather our nation has been having and hope you haven't been adversely touched by it.

When you do post, let us old-timers know how you all are doing. You know you are our favorite couple !

I wish you the best our Father has to offer this day !  HeartWoman Happy

Re: I have tried to like the new forum format, however...

Other than page jumping I've not really found anything wrong with this forum now that I've adjusted to it.  I've seen a lot worse.

I don't believe as many people would have jumped ship had  the other board not been available.   There was already discontent in the ranks.

Re: I have tried to like the new forum format, however...

Can't stand this format. Like John, I too have been here thru many changes and to be honest each change has been worse than what we had. I preferred the boards like they were two changes back - or was it three? I have also lessened my time here - it simply is not enjoyable anymore. I use to post frequently on the HSN boards and left some years back as there were problems there - cannot recall now exactly what was happening. Decided to go back over and check it and can you believe it is just like this one now. They have even fewer posters and that board use to jump - hardly anyone there, and I found it also disappointing. Someone posted either here or there the same company designed the "new?" boards for both places  - they are so similar it scares you. Give them credit however, nothing jumps and moves around and you stay signed on over there. LOL.

Re: I have tried to like the new forum format, however...

I knew I was in trouble when the well written help offered by many posters was over my head. I would never use all the bells and whistles, but still seemed to be lost sometimes. This is the only board I have joined, mostly to read the well written opinions on all subjects. I have asked questions in electronics and received some great information also. I decided to try a new board, along with this one, but figured I would be lost there too. I found it to work even for dummies like me. No explanations seem to be necessary to be able to get around the board. I'm not sure why this board is so much more complicated.

Count me in as one who dislikes this new format.  Maybe it's because I am on a tablet.  Don't know.   It is just too difficult.  How do you get to the new boards that people keep talking about.

I'm on my PC right now, but I agree about the tablet issue.  I hope they soon fix the iPAD problem so we can quote, insert pics.  When I go to put a pic in it shows as a link.  There are many features that we can't use on iPADS.

I doubt they are finished.  At least I hope not.

Once they are done with the technical side, I am hoping they will use pleasing colors to differentiate things like posts and responses and add some color to the whole site.  Easier on the eyes than strictly black and white.

Getting to our posts should be a one-click motion, as it used to be.  Yes, I know the process for getting to my posts now, but it shouldn't have to be so many clicks, and unless someone tells you specifically how to do it, one would never be able to figure it out.

Re: I have tried to like the new forum format, however...

AFAIC there are two types of change on the new forums, and it's possible to dislike both or to dislike one but not the other.

I don't like the black and white starkness. I really, REALLY don't like that they are STILL blowing iPad users off. I think "we're working on it" is the new "never, no way, ain't gonna happen, haha" from QVC.

The navigation I can certainly deal with. Many of the nuts and bolts issues people complain about are things that are now customizable on the forum. It's not QVC's fault or responsibility if customers can't figure them out. It is what it is. Learn to get around, read and post - or don't. QVC isn't a parent or teacher, there is responsibility on the consumer to keep up with technology.

"Okay then QVC will lose my many thousands." They're okay with that. Really.

The new moderation and the new what's not allowed? I LOVE IT. There is no reason people can't post within acceptable guidelines except that they choose not to, and some choose to fight it tooth and nail.

So yes, posters are correct - QVC most probably is quite happy to lose those posters who refuse to play by the rules, deliberately test and challenge moderation, and then complain because they can't post all the insults and other inappropriate discussion that previously went on.

QVC clearly wants that stopped. Yes, absolutely, they wanted it stopped badly enough to lose posters. They are probably happy to lose the posters continuing in that behavior - no matter how many "thousands" posters claim to spend by the week, month or year.

Hi moonchilde,

I get the "not teach technology" comment you made. However! Hardware changes one can always find out about without spending hours or days. Specific software changes "ie-format changes",  not so much. Buy some new software and install it, and see how long it takes to learn it without a "buyers guide" or something similar. Hours? Nah. Days? With a lot of luck, maybe partially. Weeks? More probable.

As I said in one of my very first comments on this new format. No online retailer would change their "how to order/buy" format to one even close to whst was done on this BB.

Those retailers are looking for the "EASIEST" program for customers to shop/decide and buy. If QVC made ordering online their only sales and purchase method, do you think they would put up one that pretty much tells customers: "we are not here to teach, figure it out on your own"?

The top online only retailers are on top for a reason, and those reasons have a lot to do with "ease of use". Haven't a clue if QVC has ever done a study in relation to BB use and $$$ of sales produced directly or indirectly, because of what wss said by many someone's to another someone that decided to buy because of their comments.

Check out how easy, step by step, to buy an item via this online method. Them compare that ease with the complexities of figuring out this BB. Not even close, and there has to be a reason. Until, or if they find their "bottom line" effected by $$$$ ? I doubt much in this regard towards their BB will ever change.

Re: I have tried to like the new forum format, however...

John, one thing I think has become pretty clear with the new forums is that QVC is only going to put so much effort into them, period. With all the comments since day one about people not buying from QVC any more because of the new forums, stated in various ways, nothing has changed. IMO little is going to change. It's a take-it-or-leave-it scenario. What should have been or could have been doesn't matter to QVC.

Only time will tell if QVC feels the new forums are responsible for a huge loss in sales. I personally feel if they feel losses in revenue it's far more likely to be due to the very restricted lines of merchandise they now carry, sizing issues, and presentations of the same items too frequently. They have millions of customers who don't even know the forums exist.
