I have heard this song so many times....

[ Edited ]

We shall live in peace, We shall live in peace someday. Oh deep in my heart I do believe, That we shall live in peace some day. That seems hard to believe today. My prayers are with those suffering such heartbreaking loss today. Smiley Sad

I apologize that I don't know how to post properly for the verse to be presented as it should.  But I hope my intent is clear.

WE Shall OVercome by Pete Seeger,   loved him!

We shall overcome, we shall overcome We shall overcome someday

Darling here in my heart, yeah I do believe We shall overcome someday

Well we'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand We'll walk hand in hand someday

Darling here in my heart, yeah I do believe We'll walk hand in hand someday

Well we shall live in peace, we shall live in peace We shall live in peace someday

Darling here in my heart, yeah I do believe We shall live in peace someday

Well we are not afraid, we are not afraid We shall overcome someday

Yeah here in my heart, I do believe We shall overcome someday

Hey we shall overcome, we shall overcome

We shall overcome someday

Darling here in my heart, I do believe

We shall overcome someday

We shall overcome someday

I have sung that song so many times in church while holding the hands on either side of me. Oh that it comes true some day. Thank you for the full lyrics.

cody2, I think it is fair to say that symbolicly we are holding hands as a nation tonite- I know therea are many prayer services tonite all over my  area (Southern California)

This was a great pick of  a song for today..I remember when so many of us DID think we could change the world for the better...

Yes. I thought so too mothertrucker. It breaks my heart to see the skid backwards. As a nation, I hope that we never forget and that we are able to turn this around. Today should be a start to resolve the desire for change. MLK must be shedding tears along with most of us today.

Thanks for this lovely thread, @cody2.

I've been in tears again and again...  this thread touched my heart once more.

I love Charleston and her people, and I've spent so much time there and even considered moving there.  My words are inadequate, but your song says it all.

(((hugs))) to you and also to Charleston.
