Found out this morning, the transition in ownership has been pushed to the end of the month now.  I have another two weeks of job limbo.  Smiley Frustrated

I am hovering between all out anger and full on stress. They are blaming it on the virus delaying everything.  More likely, according to what I am hearing, is that they can't get their financing solidified.

Whether that's because the businesses are shutting down or half staffed, I have no idea and don't really care.  This is the third time they have pushed closing.  I thought when we got the official bye, see you, letter they had everything locked down and set.

And I told the pharmacy girl, I'd call her today with my definite availability since everything was supposed to happen today.  I have no idea what to tell her now and I'm afraid she is going to think I am unreliable and a complete flake because the supposed management can't get it together.

If the pharmacy job wasn't part time and a bit of a distance, I'd make them keep their word and take my box and go for good at 5pm.  But I just can't walk away from a long time FT job for something PT that financially may not make much sense in the long run.  Did I say I am stressed?

My apologies for venting.  I am going to try and calm down and figure out what to say to the pharmacy and to myself as to what to do with the rest of my life.  I am so tired of not having control over my own life and future.  I about cried because I am so tired of all of it.

At least I am being cheered  by the sight of two girls as petite as I am who were sent to move our big, huge, heavy file boxes from the second floor down the stairs.   I guess someone is still confident in the sale happening or no one told them that the sale was pushed back. I would place a bet on that.

My GM has been scrambling to call back the utility companies and ask them not to turn off our electricity, water, and gas at midnight as requested since we don't have anyone new to pay the bills as expected.  I've never in my life seen such a circus and watch people tolerate it like it's normal.   My stepfather is a retired CEO and he's been in awe and happy to be retired.

Common sense and and responsibility towards your "human" resources has totally been lost. Smiley Sad

Your poor thing.  It's always tricky with timing when negotiating a new position.  I think you are going to have to pick one.  My sense is you are going to stick it out in the current job.  You seem too on the fence about the new offer.  Just my gut feeling from reading your post.  Good luck with your choice.  I think things will work out and it sounds like even if you need to get back in the job market, you might find something closer to home.

Well thats not good at all.  You may want to think staying over since this new company seems to have jumped the gun, for whatever reason.  IMO you should stop putting yourself through the stress, pack your stuff and go take the pharmacy job.

Re: I have a stay of execution

Why in the world would you even consider jeopardizing a sure thing job for staying two more weeks with a job that you KNOW is ending?

It makes no difference that it was a "long term" job. It is no longer.  Your disdain and disgust for your employer coes through loud and clear and I am sure is difficult to hide at work.

Take the job offer and get out now. You are driving yourself nuts with this.

I agree with @Ms tyrion2 .  Your current job is obviously not a reliable one anymore.  I would go with the part-time sure thing, if it were me.

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith.

Of course, that's  what I would do...,you have to do what is best for you, as best you can ascertain.

Re: I have a stay of execution

@Ms tyrion2  Because there is a possibility the new ownership may pick me and my FT job right up as every other owner has done in the past and that beats the heck out of a PT job that may become financially unfeasible sooner rather than later.   But I won't know that for another 2 weeks yet.

And your disdain and disgust for me is noted.  I hope you find more kindness when you are on a tough road yourself.   We  all find ourselves there eventually.  Heart

Re: I have a stay of execution

I am going to let this post die but I wanted to thank all of you again for your advice over this past week.  I am so tired of this saga (know you are too) and you are all right.  I am doing it to myself as well as the current employer.  It's just tough to jump without a financial partner to catch you if you choose wrong.  If you have one, you are blessed.

Had one for 18 years and have not had one for the past 20 years.  It is hard and scary sometimes but I do so prefer not having one.  If I eat at the age of 90 it will be all up to me.  You will be fine @Laura14 and you are blessed.

Re: I have a stay of execution

I think I would have to remove myself from that very stressful situation.  The new ownership sounds too unstable anyway.  Sounds like they create stress and it will never end.

Good luck!
