I switched to Directv STREAM and I really like it much better than satellite. With the Directv streaming device (Gemini) you can add all the apps you want. The Gemini comes with it's own remote and it's almost like never having left satellite. Surfing is easy and fast. They gave me a $200 debit card for signing up, plus a free Gemini and unlimited cloud recording storage. No contract and no hidden fees. Pricing for packages listed on their website is all you pay. There are three packages.

@SilleeMee how does the stream get to the TV and do you never have a problem with it buffering?

@Icegoddess

The Gemini box is connected to the TV with an HDMI cable. The Gemini box is wireless-wifi connected or it can be ethernet wired. I have two Geminis, one is ethernet connected and the other is wireless wifi connected. Neither have issues with buffering.

The Geminis have excellent wifi reception. Better than I expected. Much better than my Roku stick.

Re: I have a $971 CREDIT w/ Directv

@SilleeMee do you get all the same channels?  I need Reelz so I can watch On Patrol Live on weekends and I like to watch college football.  DH really wants to cut the cord.  We have an older Smart TV and it's not compatible with some of the sytems, so I'd have to check into that, but it might be worth it to him to get a new TV.  So, you need a separte Gemini per TV?  We have 3.

@Icegoddess

You don't need a Gemini box to view Directv Stream. You can just use your Roku device or whichever one you have. It's a very inconvenient way to watch, however. The Gemini makes it easy to surf, use the guide, record...all the stuff like traditional cable or satellite has. Each TV gets their own Gemini box, which is a purchase you make and it's not leased. Directv Stream w/ Gemini is for people who still want the cable experience but w/o the high price.

Gemini remote control...it's great!

@SilleeMee As I feared, my Samsung Smart TV is too old. That's the problem I was finding with other streaming services too.   It has to be 2017 or later and ours is 2014.  I had to find that info on TV Guide.  DirecTV's link to the full list of models takes me somewhere else.

@monicakm Consider putting it on autopay so the correct amount is charged every month.

I'm considering doing that with most of our bills.

Messy noodles? Lol, I've never heard that phrase. When I told my husband what I had done, he wanted the money back in our account.  I didn't care which way we handle it.
