Friends and family on Facebook are posting pictures of dead animals they have killed. It really bothers me that they seem pleased that they are stopping the hearts of precious creatures. I'd almost go as far to see it should be illegal to post pictures like that.

I don't know why that strange grey spoiler space is there. I was trying to post a frown smiley.

You can edit out the spoiler which is that orange thing and get a frowning face two spaces over.
I would not want to see pictures of people with their kill![]()

Oh my. This thread brought back bad memories of years ago when we used to have a caravan of cars driving approximately seven hours to see my in-laws. The little ones would burst into tears because inevitably we would run into at least two cars with deer on the hoods. It always seemed criminal to me. Thankfully, that long trip is no longer a part of my current life.

I hate this time of year because the overly-sympathetic come out of tthe woodwork bemoaning but refusing to understand that the deer population must be culled so they don't all starve. We simply cannot have unchecked populations of deer eating crops and menacing our highways. I love to see them too as they're beautiful but they can rapidly get out of hand. There simply is not enough space or forage for all of them.

This is the bare bones truth. If for no other reason than the animals own herd health, they have to be culled. And if you have ever experienced a car accident involving a deer, and see how they often suffer before they die, hunting seems humane.
I, personally, would not hunt unless I had no way to get food. I love to see animals alive and in nature as well. But in many parts of the country, it is a regular part of the culture. It is often refered to as a sport, but in reality people eat what they kill. They also donate meat to food banks to help feed others.
If one is a true vegitarian and does not believe in eating animals it makes sense that this would be disturbing. But if one does eat meat, and thinks that hunting is worse than the way the meat industry kills to bring you your chuck roast or burger, they are kidding themselves. Responsible hunters respect animals, their goal is for a quick kill.
