Re: I guess I should tip the delivery guys

We always tip delivery people. No, it's not necessary, but it shows gratitude. They always appreciate it as well. We tip between $10.00 to $20.00 a person.

An entire bedroom suite and assembling the bed, that involves multiple trips in/out and up/ down the stairs. $20.00 and a bottle of water for each guy.

Re: I guess I should tip the delivery guys

Assuming two delivery people and set up, number and size of pieces and stairs I would tip $20 each if I am satisfied and everything was delivered with care.

I tip delivery people who set up  and demonstrate appliances, deliver heavy items and food.  I feel if I can afford the items I can afford a few extra dollars for those that bring it to me and set it up.

Re: I guess I should tip the delivery guys

Yes, tipping in the trucking industry is customary and it is not against any policy. They are not civil servants, or municipal city workers that would be unable to accept a tip. They aren't going against any policy that would get them or you in hot water for accepting a tip; no matter how some try to convince themselves it is, so that they feel better in not doing so.

You may tip them whatever you are comfortable with.
More than 2, give them 20 or 25 and say something like "get some coffee guys"

Now, if they are rude, difficult or unprofessional...a nice thank you, have a good day would be sufficient.

It is a strenuous job for any delivery man and the older they get the harder the job becomes.

At least $20  each person. Also, give each person their own tip. Do not hand the tip to one person expecting that person to divide it.

@Janey2 Yes! Hand it to each guy and thank him!

Re: I guess I should tip the delivery guys

I always tip. And in this case, I would tip $20 each.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: I guess I should tip the delivery guys

I'm so glad to see the generosity expressed here. So many people would have the attitude of "this is what they're getting paid for so I don't need to tip". I ALWAYS tip, and sometimes more than the going rate. I always tipped our yard service people and our cleaning people as generously as I could because that's hard, physical work and they don't get paid enough (in my opinion).

Re: I guess I should tip the delivery guys

We usually tip the guys and offer something to drink.

The delivery fee goes to the company and not the delivery personnel.
