Well this might amuse a few people here ....
Last week I was in a grocery store and a woman was speaking to a friend using speakerphone. They were both much too loud.
Another woman walked up to the speaker lady and ... quite loudly .... said "Does your friend know that she's on speakerphone and about a dozen people can hear your conversation?"
The woman on the other end of the call howled and said TAKE ME OFF SPEAKER DAMMMMIT !
It was funny to watch. I hope they were both embarrassed.

Supermarket? I hear people talking in the bathroom on the potty 🙄.

I was talking on the phone to a coworker and she said someone that we worked with, was having a baby with his girlfriend. I knew they weren't getting along, and I said, that's all he needs right now. The coworker then says "I have you on speakerphone and he's here now at my house" I was so mad!

Definitely one of my pet peeves, listening to people gabbing on their phone in public places. If it's an urgent call, go outside!

Even worse is sitting next to people in a restaurant who have their speaker phones on. They have obnoxiously loud and terrible ring tones and they talk at the top of their lung capacity - yell is more like it -- and when one phone call ends --- the next one begins! Then there are the tables and booths where 2 or 3 people are doing the same thing!
Try to have a nice, quiet, enjoyable meal out --- so much for that!
No consideration, no respect, no manners, no couth ---- no regard for others whatsoever!

I'm not into all this high tech stuff. Not because I'm against it but because people misuse it. I think less talk can be a good thing! Like @Marp said, yes for emergencies....otherwise, mine is always off at home. People wonder why they have so much anxiety these days. Could this be one of the culprits? I tend to think so.

I do now take my phone with me when I leave the house. Unless I am expecting a very important call, it stays in my car to be available should I need it. I do not feel compelled to have it with me or to use it everywhere I go.
