What started the squirrel thing? I saw it once or twice.

@Daisy Sunflower , it's my recollection that a fan sent a stuffed squirrel to Carolyn.  It somehow took off from there.  I remember once not so long ago, Carolyn requested squirrel graphics to designate the "pick of the day".   Lo and behold a few days later there they were on my T V screen.  It got to be much, IMO.

Here's what I remember:

One day on a D & Co. show Carolyn teased Gary about being distracted during the presentation because he loved a particular color on an item. He was so distracted by the color he wasn't giving other details. The joke was Carolyn comparing his distraction to dogs being distracted when they see a squirrel. This is in reference to the animated movie "Up" which if you've seen you will understand the reference. So Carolyn & Gary started saying the word "squirrel" every time something popped up that they thought was "extra nice or special". Then, it took on "a life of its own". Carolyn got a stuffed squirrel from a viewer and then she bought one for Gary. Squirrel voices started at that point.

And that's the squirrel story as I know it.

@FiddleDeeDee

It only appears at around Christmas....perhaps others here could expand on it?

I didn't mind seeing the stuffed animal squirrels, but I didn't care for the "squirrel voices". I never watch kitchen shows so it's my first time seeing the DV doll. I played with dolls growing up, but this doll looks a bit creepy. JMO.

That David doll doesn't quite resemble David, imo.

It's cheerfully cute, though.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Isn't that what people thought about Lisa Robertson too?

Re: I guess Gary is done with the Squirrel thing….

I think if the squirrels were truly a problem, upper management would have spoken to Carolyn, Gary, or the producer about it a long time ago.

I think there's more insight in the Qurate Retail annual report.
