@songbird  The rhyme goes: “Find a penny, pick it up then all day you’ll have good luck. “

I think you tried to find the owner so now the money is yours to spend how you choose. It isn’t a huge amount of cash and I am certain that the person who lost it won’t be in dire straights over that low dollar amount.I have found money and lost money over my lifetime.I have to say that nothing I have lost has ever been returned to me.I have learned to be much more careful with my things.

As others have said, it is indeed yours to keep!

Sorry was answering kitcat!

I moved out of an unsafe home when I turned 17 & it was difficult on my own. When I lost my last $10.00 I went without food for a week...I'll never forget that oh no feeling. I always turn money in, I just can't keep it. Thanks for asking @IdahoGram .

I found a small amount of money on the floor by the counter at my eyebrow place (small private business run by 3 women). I asked the cashier if anyone lost money. She said no then took the money and put it in her register. So it went from my found money to hers.

Turning in cash to to a nearby store may make you feel good, but seriously what are the odds it will end up back with its original owner

Turning it in has nothing to do with making me feel good or thinking it will be returned to it's owner...I explained it in a post to @IdahoGram

Finders keepers. I too have found money and I have lost some too. ☺

That’s my thought.  If I can’t reasonably figure out who to return the money to, then I keep it (for small amounts like this...have never found a large amount).

Ive also lost small amounts of money and didn’t worry that someone found it and kept it.

ITA.  Any money I find always get's turned in to the nearest store. Woman LOL

You turn it into the nearest store?  Why?   Because random people working in the nearest store are going to take time off from their jobs to search for the person who lost it?

No I don't think employees are going to wander around looking for the person who lost it but they may come into the store looking for the money. Good grief hasn't anyone on this forum been without? I lost my last $10.00 when I was a 17 & a HS senior living on my own...I went without food for a week & never forgot that oh no feeling. If others want to keep the money that's fine but I always turn it in, I simply can't keep it. I'll include @Dasiy in my reply too. Thanks for your post with the pic & no I'm not joking. I leave  change on the ground for those who need it...I know what need is.
