As long as you made the attempt to return it, you've done the right thing.  You can use it however you choose, but I hope you'll decide to do something good with it; put it in the church offering, donate it to a favorite charity, use it to pay it forward in some way for someone.

LOL.  I would never give it a church.  I've never stepped foot in one. Am not even a Christian. Atually  I think I'll give to a local charity preferably secular.

Kudos to you for taking the extra step to find the owner. Buy yourself something nice. You've earned it! Smiley Very Happy

You tried to return it, no one claimed it, so in my eyes it belongs to you.

Are you afraid you'll be struck by lightening or something if you keep it?

No store near by.  It's a residential area.  Nothing commercial.  Not even public transportation.  It just has a library and a senior center.  They were built together.

I found a small amount of money on the floor by the counter at my eyebrow place (small private business run by 3 women). I asked the cashier if anyone lost money. She said no then took the money and put it in her register. So it went from my found money to hers.

Turning in cash to to a nearby store may make you feel good, but seriously what are the odds it will end up back with its original owner
