@dexwrote:@151949 I think you could put a small pouch in your purse to quickly put money away and organize it when you get home. That way you get be finished quicker and wouldn't be so frustrated.
OR how about the cashier can wait that extra about 15 sec it takes for me to put my money or CC away properly. How about that as an option ?There is absolutely no reason why they can't. I have to wait for them to take as long as they please to do whatever to check out those ahead of me , then whatever it takes for them to process my order - so they need to wait as long as I need to put my belongings away. IT IS JUST COMMON CURTESY and is the minimum we should expect.

So it comes down to, if you have to wait for others you intend to make them wait for you.

No, sorry. The cashier is part of a business not a charity
I keep a small cosmetic bag in my handbag, when I know I have the correct change back it gets stuffed in the small bag until I get to my car & sort it out in my wallet.
Really? Hey if you are in a hurry, don't buy groceries and if it frustrates you that much to be around people, send your hubby. You say you want courtesy but you sure don't give it.

I didn't know they had 500 hundred bills!!!! Never seen one I don't think...

I don't ever use cash but if I did here's what I would do no matter the circumstance.
Take out wallet to get cash.
Put wallet back in purse.(No purse, look the bag over the hand holding the wallet)
Pick up the bag in one hand.
The other hand takes the change.
Stick the change in pocket or hold onto it and move away.
Stop out of the way of other people to sort it out.
I worked in retail for many years when I was young. I try to make things as easy as possible for the cashier. Especially when she has a line breathing down her neck. And yes I always put the coins into someone's hand before the bills.
May slight anger at this situation would be at the lady that held up the line, but in this case I would check myself because she was elderly. I am much more tolerant in those circumstances.

Well, unless there there is a little old lady standing in the way (
), you can step a few steps to the side and stand there while putting away your cash. You are out of the way of the next person, and can take moment to get situated.

@Laura14wrote:Probably because her employer has drilled it into her to get the customers serviced quickly.
I know in the pharmacy they actually track ticket times and penalize you if you are too slow.
I think it's ridiculous and companies need to let people not machines deliver the customer service. Most humans are usually better at it.
When you are checking out people at the pharmacy aren't you trained to ask them if they have any questions about their drugs and if they do have questions get the pharmacist to answer them before they leave. I've never gotten a Rx where they did not do this.
@151949 Yes, by law that is required.
The ticket times or actually it's fill times that a pharmacy tracks is the time it takes from the printed out prescription order to the time it's actually filled by the tech and checked by the pharmacist.
Customer pickup is just grab and go. No need to track that. The transaction is complete once the tech has compiled the meds and packaged them and the pharmacist has okayed it. It doesn't really involve the actual customer other than one who may be waiting and those we always jump the line with.

YES I waited patiently so when it is my turn why shouldn't I have the time I need - which is really only about 15 sec.to put my money away. Maybe you all don't mind having to dig around the bottom of your purse for your money but I do. I put my money away properly so I know where it is.And especially, if using a credit card - it is going to be put away properly in my wallet.I've never lost a credit card and I never intend to lose one.

Boy, I'll do my homework I find a line that has NO people in it, I'll move fast as greased lightning because I know somebody will barrel in with a huge cart and at least 2 screaming kids hollering "I want", "I want".
The stocker gal will have to choose that particular time to stock the gum and candy bars so now she's behind me. As fast as checker checks I grab the bags and throw in cart.
Everybody has a rant. My 2 sisters get up and go to walmart before 8 so they can avoid the crowds, noise, kids are in school most people at work at that time, etc. Then, you got the big yellow stocking machine making that back up noise, honk, honk, honk LOL
Can't win my lovlies. LOL Last week we have a Subway in our little home town Walmart and in come woman with a dog on a leash. I looked at the gal fixing my sandwich and said "she has a dog in here". She got her MGR and said they have a dog. I didn't stick around to see what happened. Don't think the health Dept would approve unless it was a working dog for the blind, etc.
This was a Mexican hairless breed. Chi wow wow whatever you call it hhahahahha.
It's just a different time and not for the best I'm afraid. People in PJ's, people bringing dogs with them like they can't bear to be without them for an hr. Rude, inconsiderate people, insensitive, unless it applies to them

@AuntGwrote:@SharkE, but doesn't the divider signify to the cashier where the cut-off is? Maybe I'm not following etiquette because I start unloading my cart to the belt while the person ahead is being rung up. I never thought it upset them or the cashier, but maybe I'm ticking them off unintentionally.
GUILTY TOO!
Not guilty. That's the way it's supposed to be done as a courtesy to those behind you in line. It's just common sense to keep things moving to the best of your ability.
