Re: I find more and more that I order on line and do not go to local stores.

I buy clothes, sneakers, and some other things locally, but most of what I want would involve a long drive if it's even in the area at all. I adore independent stores, but the owners/buyers don't seem to finding cool stuff anymore.

I can not imagine buying shoes that you have not tried on.

Re: I find more and more that I order on line and do not go to local stores.

Oh, I'm there too and have been for quite a few years now. I was never really a shopping kind of gal anyway. I go to the grocery store for most of the household food. But now I even get the dog's food at Amazon AND I save about $20 a month. I get some of the bird's stuff online, but I make a lot of his foods myself.

Everything else I get online. Like - EVERYTHING. From electronics to household stuff, including paper and soap and cleaning supplies (except a few from the grocery store), I can get it online and not only that I can save money in the process.

I have some physical challenges and it also makes my life easier. The hardest thing is when the 30# bag of dog food comes but the UPS guys are the greatest and wait for me to come to the door so they can put the box inside for me. They've offered to bring it in and put it wherever I want, but I'm usually not ready to put the food into L&L containers, so they leave it in my entryway and, when I'm ready to move it I just put it on top of a moving blanket and pull it through the house. That's like 99.9% easier than trying to pick it up. I couldn't carry it that far.

If you're nice to people, most of them will be nice back. Smiley Happy

I still like to go and try on things and shop in person.

I have to try on shoes and bras and pants and bathing suits.

I did find two pairs of shoes that I like that are not in the store. I bought them and they are ready to be picked up. I will try them on there; and if they don't fit or I don't like them, I will return them immediately.

I needed several different pet bird items.... food, etc.... If I had tried to find them locally, I would never have found most of them as the pet stores are so limited as to selection anymore... AND I would have had to drive to about 5 different pet stores... in different parts of the area to MAYBE get what needed.

So, I went to Amazon.com... and got EVERYTHING in one order with free shipping and no sales tax. I bypassed driving, parking, taking a whole day shopping and did the entire order in minutes. It will be here first part of next week.

I LOVE AMAZON.COM!!!!!{#emotions_dlg.wub}

I think you have to file and pay the SALES TAX at the end of the year though.

I mainly shop at Amazon, but I pay tax on everything, with free shipping.

You can't beat shopping online & the free shipping.. the Q should take a cue from Amazon and other online retailers. I mean, it's at your door with the blink of an eye almost. Ordered a stroller for our niece/husband, registry at Babies R Us, and it was free shipping and will be delivered to their doorstep. So darn convenient! Makes me happy, happy, happy!!!

I have been this way for years. I may go to Kohl's or Target on occasion (probably every 3-4 months) but for the most part, I shop online.

I don't enjoy shopping any more than I enjoy traveling. 95% of my Christmas shopping was done online with free shipping, and I had no returns. I recently realized that the only stores I have been in during the last year, were my favorite local grocery store, Kroger, Wal-Mart, CVS (2x), Ollie's (1x), and Dollar General (1x). I really don't like to shop.

Bingo! Me too. I order my groceries on line and have them delivered. I buy almost everything I use or wear online. The only time I go into a mall is to go to restaurant. We bought a new mattress and box spring for our guest room and I ordered that online too! My go to online retailers are Amazon, QVC, Macy's and Walmart. It's a great time to be alive! Amazon Prime as a gift! OMG! I never would have thought of that. It's a fantastic idea.
