I was the one with "ghost calls". They are computer generated voiceless calls. This was on my land phone. You would answer but there would be nobody on the line. Usually with Robo calls there is a recorded message. This had none. I began to get tired with them when I got up to 6 calls a day. They would never call on weekends. I registered and starting from the first day they disappeared. A couple came back, mostly from overseas. But there is a place where you can report them. Yesterday I did not get any. Strangely enough, I never get robo calls on my cell phone. They all would appear on my land phone. Ghost calls are a kind of precurser to scams, robo calls, etc. They just want to know if there is a human on the phone. The phone numbers are computer generated and changed daily.

A very good move, you'll be glad you did it. The next step is to just ignore calls from numbers you don't recognize. The scammers will learn, eventually, not to bother you.

I usually get calls every day, but never answer from a # I don't recognize. Those calls never even leave a message so I figure they are some kind of scam. Then I block them from recalling, but you know they have many #'s to call from so it doesn't stop them all. Sometimes I Google them, but don't always have luck with that.

@songbird Do you have to pay a monthly fee for this?

I just checked the site, there is a fee for each mobile device and free protection for all VoIP landlines. VoIP is an internet based phone and not your traditional landline, so this service is useless for me.
If I don't recognize the number I don't answer, but it is annoying for the phone to ring non stop some days with robo calls.

I just bought a new phone for my landline that has call block on it. So far it works great - just one ring on blocked calls. It only holds 200 numbers so I figure when it is filled I will just delete and start over.

It doesn't work with my free Ooma voip service unless I upgrade to Ooma's premier service which I won't be doing.

@DiAnne I do that too and you will be surprised how quickly your 200 numbers fills up. You can block and block and they just change numbers. We never answer a call we don't recognize and they just keep calling anyway. (Am talking about the land line) I keep blocking because I want to and will take the time to do so.

I had also registered with nomorobo. Not sure how many calls it has stopped, We still get at least 20+ calls a day that we do not recognise and therefore don't answer.
