CONGRATULATIONS!   You will love retirement.  When cleaning out my room/office, I put all still usable stuff on tables and had a "garage sale".  Teachers could come and take what they wanted.  New young teachers loved it since they were building their supplies!  What was left was tossed.

@Lisa Y - Congratulations and thank you!

I'm a former secondary teacher and ended my career at a community college. I'm now in a second career, supposedly working part time - LOL!

Enjoy relaxing and doing what YOU want to do!  Smiley Happy

@Lisa Y @Congratulations!!!!
It will be an adjustment especially when Aug/Sept rolls around and you are not planning, decorating, and meeting with colleagues. Bittersweet for sure but you will get a new routine. You will have time for yourself now especially after these last three years.

I retired after 43 years teaching (elem) in June/2019 just before the pandemic. That was hard because of the virus and people were not meeting. No volunteering or subbing then. But, now I am in a mah jongg group and a book club, pick up my grand girls, and volunteer at school. Very happy now especially with the changes and new laws in my state (Fl).

So, get ready for the well deserved culmination of your years of giving to others. I don't like the word retired....I'm not tired again. I'm not tired at all. I'm on a permanent vacation. You will be, too!!

Congratulations on your retirement. Not sure what "early" means after 35+ years.

I was a factory worker for 33 years with the same company. Unlike most people in a "Profession" they might love, my only emotion was happy/happy/happy.  No adjusting for me, only enjoyment. That started in 1991 and continues on!

Enjoy now!  🎂

I sent in my application for early retirement from teaching. I am officially done as of July 1, but my last day is June 16, 2023.

After almost 36 years of being in an elementary classroom, I don't have to go back in Sept. How weird is that?! I'm sad, excited, and a whole roller coaster of emotions. The staff at my school has been so supportive and wonderful.
Cleaning out my classroom has been bittersweet and exhausting. I've already filled up at 25 garbage bags and I'm not finished!

Well, on to new adventures in my life.

Thank you for reading my post. 😊

@Lisa Y Congratulations! Yes, it is a strange feeling, but speaking from experience, the sadness doesn't last long. Wishing you all the best and hope your retirement is all you want it to be.
