Re: I feel sorry for the house pets....

Fireworks happen in my area (out in the country).  Two of our dogs are bothered by fireworks and our horses too.   I dread hearing all that noiise.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Two of my dogs were afraid of the thunder vest because of the velcro used to open and close it.

I always closed my windows and had the A/C on to try to drown out the noise of fireworks.

@DJPI may do this too.  It would be every night I'd have to keep my A/C on.

@Jk9The noise startles me.  They are not sparklers, this is big time noise.  Though I would complain much if it were just the sparklers their noise is not like that dynamite sound.

It ramps up even more the closer it gets to the fourth.

Re: I feel sorry for the house pets....

Our Golden is very fearful of fireworks and thunder.  Wherever she is, she comes into my office and goes into a corner.  The fireworks started a month or so ago.  We live in CT.  I say the same thing every time to our Golden, "That's fire crackers, Jessie.  They won't hurt you.  It's OK."  But she stays in the corner for a while.  Smiley Sad

Re: I feel sorry for the house pets....

Our dog gets a bit nervous when the loud fireworks start. But I noticed last year, when his hearing started to go, that he hardly noticed them. This year he probably won't even hear them. When he was younger, if he got jittery, I just went in the house with him. My street looks like a war zone the night of the Fourth. There have been years I couldn't even see the house across the street because of all the smoke.

My dog Murphy is fine as long as he is not outside.  He just sits next to me

@NEvans2how old is your dog?  Is the hearing loss due to age or illness?
