We have probably all seen the ad where the guy drops all the microphones. Now I just saw an ad where a guy does the same with his smartphone. What is that supposed to mean? I don't get it.

It means he/she is done. Over. Final word ... their statement is the way I take it. The real meaning? No clue. ![]()

When someone "drops the mic" it means that whatever was said prior to the drop is the final word and there is no question about it...no argument or comments are needed because what was said is suppose to be the absolute truth with no doubt. The mic is dropped so no one else can say anything.

it is called a "mic drop."
"an instance of deliberately dropping or tossing aside one's microphone at the end of a performance or speech one considers to have been particularly impressive."
"used to emphasize that a discussion is at an end after a definitive or particularly impressive point has been made."
"When a performer or speaker intentionally drops/throws the microphone on the floor after an awesome performance. "

Sidsmom inserts it into her posts sometimes. I always take it she's using it for humor
