@SportyShorty07  I'm Sorry to read you weren't admitted. I bet you kicked their behinds, and they didn't appreciate it. I know several LE agencies are begging for new recruits.

Your always positive attitude will bring you something else,  Those of us on the forum are cheering for you and can't wait to see what you do next!

Chin up!

@Stray  Thank you so much for your thoughtful advice and support, Stray! You are so right- maybe they found someone taller, younger or politically connected- and that's ok.  Its doesn't mean Im'm less than or failed, it just means that someone else met the unique preferences that they had at this time.  I gave it my best and my background investogtor and everyone I met seemed to enjoy meeting me, so I'm glad that I tried- I really am.

That is so interesting that you worked on a Mercy Ship! I haven't heard of that type of ship or outreach before- that is such a noble cause and probably a really reawrding thing to do and a great idea! It must've been so wonderful for you to do that work and it is lovely that you made a lot of friends during that time.  I'll look into it and see if they have culinary opportunities.  I've also thought of volunteering and cooking opportunities with Meals on Wheels- a food service that prepares and delivers meals to seniors and disabled people.  Lots of options to consider.  Thank you for your kindness!

@Squirrels Are Trash  Thank you so much, Squirrels are Trash! I really gave it my all and when I finished that obstacle course, I put my arms up at the finish line as a little celebration- I still smile thinking about how happy I was getting over the 5ft wall and finishing the course and fitness tests.  Although I'm hurt about not making the cut, the memories of all it took to get there and the little victories during this process along the way have instilled newfound confidence in myself and that will carry on into giving me the motivation and belief in myself to do new things! Smiley Happy

Thank you so much! I will keep my chin up and walk tall.  By the way, every time I see your profile name I smile and I laugh- it is such a clever and funny profile name Smiley Very Happy.  I love squirrels and it still makes me laugh! Keep up your great sense of humor Smiley Happy

Hello forum friends,

I want to let you know that I didn't get into my city's police academy and due to written policy, I am unable to apply for this position anywhere for the next two years.  I made it all of the way to the background check after trying for two and a half years to get this far- it is a long process and I had to take some difficult tests twice to get top scores.  I got fantastic scores on the fitness test, written exam and oral in person interview. I can't appeal the decision and I can't find out why I didn't make the cut to get into the academy.

At 35 years old, I proved that I could take my high school wrestling background and get into great shape and beat people a decade younger than me in fitness test scores.  I'm 4'11" and I got over the 5 foot wall and ran the obstacle course all in about 28 seconds Smiley Happy.   I had 80 pounds of grip strength during the hand grip strength test- the top score for most men.  I did 32 full on sit ups floor to knees in a minute.  I got the top push up score in my test group that day.  My wonderful family, my friends and former employers wrote very heartfelt character references about me.   I'm a great girl with a great background and great morals- I wanted to make a difference in my city and help people.

I'm going to create new dreams and goals now. I will continue my love for fitness and exercise as a hobby.  I'll look for employment in art or in the culinary industry since I'm a talented artist, cook and baker and I went to art college and culinary school.  I love to do art and cook/bake.  When one door closes, another opens- maybe this rejection is a blessing. I had a good cry over this news and I will always be proud of myself for trying.  Thank you for all of your support in this journey and thank you for believing in me! Heart  Onward and upward!

My dear friend, I am so, so sorry to hear this news.  I know how much this meant to you too.  You would've made such a wonderful addition to their police force.  I can't imagine what those idiots must've been thinking!  Not clearly that's for sure! It's their loss!  But, I know how much you wanted this and for That, I'm truly sorry.

You have so many outstanding qualities, attributes, skills, intelligence, and interests, you can do ANYTHING!  With your know how and inner and outer beauty, I know you'll find something else you equally if not love more!

I would've responded to this SO much sooner, but I had to go out of town for an appointment yesterday.  I wouldn't want you to think I'm not here for you.  If you need to talk, please just say the word.  I love ya girl!  I'm rooting for you all the way!❤️❤️❤️

@bikerbabe  I didn't have to fill out any medical forms in my application.  I'm looking for the time being to make a career change given the fact that I didn't make the cut ont his job but tried my best.  I've got a lot of options to explore and I'll do my best to pursue things that I think that I am capable of Smiley Happy

@qualitygal  Thank you very much for your kind words and rooting for me! Your message of my throwing my heart over the bar to get there is so meaningful! I'll go for the gold as the olpmypians do! Its interesting- I have  a set of little Hello Kitty figurines dressed in different olympic sports outfits for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that ultimately were cancelled due to Covid- there was so much hope surrounding those olympic games.  I look at those Hello Kitty 2020 Olympics figures and think, "Just because my dream didn't happen, it doesn't mean that I didn't try to get there" Smiley Happy

@cheriere   Thank you so very much for your caring response and such kind words, Cheriere! I'm very grateful that you're there for me and I hope that you had a fun day yesterday after your appointment Heart. I think in this case, I'll never get answers to my questions.  A family friend's son who is my age with an equally excellent background and morals applied to be a cop and was let go at the same point that I was and told to reapply and just like me, he's at a loss and confused as to why he didn't get selected.  He didn't want to wait 2 years without advancing in his life and now he's working PR for a company and really thriving, so I have hope that I will find a good career and continue on.   My family friend who is a retired background investigator said that sometimes people can be a great choice and they're cut from the selection process because other people are chosen -I'll never know. Thank you very much for rooting for me and supporting me!

Most if the time, police politics play a HUGE role like in other places.  I'll bet they already know who they planned to hire.  However, because they technically have to list opportunities, they do so knowing all along it isn't going to matter how qualified a person may be.

Please don't let this bring you down...I know that's easier said than done.  But this is IN NO WAY a reflection of how DESERVING you are to be a police officer!

I know you'll find what you love to do.  You're great at so many things, I wish I were so lucky.  Give yourself some time and it will come, I promise.❤️

Oh, yesterday was a bad day at the dr.  We'll talk more about that junk later.  This post is about YOU and I'm here for Ya!❤️

@SportyShorty07   The one career all of us agree you would be great at is letter writing.

For over 30 years there have been communications companies who create pre-written responses to any possible customer questions or comments.

It's a shame that's one job that is rapidly being taken over by AI computer programs. You would have been promoted to vice-president within a month.

@cheriere   Thank you so much for your kind words! I read an article that recruiters are looking at college athletes and finding people all over America to join the academies so if there's heavy recruitment, people could've already had top spots chosen for them. I'll never know answers to my questions, but I think that there are going to be some great new academy attendees this year and for many years to come.  I think that in losing me, I take comfort in knowing that they gained great recruits- I think that whoever made the cut will have beaten the odds and will do very well.

You have so many gifts and you're very smart and stylish, clever and kind.  I'm rooting for you in whatever you do and I am here tor you too for whatever you need. Heart
