@Wsmom Thank you so much, Wsmom ! It probably is a blessing in disguise- its a stessful job, especially in my city- but I was wholeheartedly ready to accept that career if they would've taken me. It will be fun to step back from all of this and explore career opportunities and take time for me again. You know, I was so determined to get this job that I didn't paint my nails for over 2 years since I knew women in this job couldn't wear fun colored nail polish- I'm going to paint my nails hot pink this weekend!

@SportyShorty07 Sorry to hear that, you sound like an excellent candidate. I don't understand why they can't tell you why you didn't get into the academy. Are there any kind of restrictions or requirements that could prevent someone from being accepted? Age, height, weight, etc? Doesn't make sense for them not to disclose

Definitely look into Federal law enforcement ( FBI, CIA and Secret Service(there are a lot of female family members that need protection ). The age thing is only a guide line ( CIA offered me a job in my late 30s) and you get a real career position with great salary and benefits.

@Natureluvr Thank you so much- I've really put all of my heart body and mind into getting this job and now it feels like I lost grasp of a balloon that just floated away into the sky right in front of me. I think everything happens for a reason, even if I know in my heart that I wanted this job and could do this job. I gave it my very best, and that's something to be really proud of. Oh believe me- I had the kind of cry that would put soap operas to shame when I read the rejection email and now I'm doing better thanks to the love of my family and the outpouring of kindness and love from all of you!

@Kachina624 That is such a great idea! I love popcorn balls and I'm sure I could make popcorn balls using my homemade kettle corn and caramel popcorn that I make from scratch on the stove top! I love making classic desserts, treats and cookies and I use my 1950's and 1960's cookbooks as inspiration .

And on that note, @SportyShorty07 , check out how to get items into the Harvest Festival or large craft fairs in the area to get your items out there. Even bags of flavored popcorn. We have gone to the Harvest Festival and the Home Shows many times over the years and bought different vendors' items and then order more later.

(I may have already posted this...I thought i had but don't see it now. That's what I get for multi-tasking! 😁)

@SportyShorty07 the very first time I read that you wanted to be a police officer all I could think about is Luann(Crystal Fox) on in The Heat of the Night TV show. I know it's fiction but the way she carried herself and was always so confident and didn't fool around. She's 5' 2" and knew how to handle herself. You remind me so much of her just from reading your Posts.

I also think when you are ready you should try the Sherrif's department. I don't think your height had anything to do with it.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. It will happen sooner than you think.

@Estellee Thank you so much ! I don't know why they can't tell me why I didn't get into the academy and why I can't appeal it. I just feel bad about all of the reference letters people had to take time out of their days to write- I play bingo every month with a group of lovely seniors and each and every one of them believed in me so much that they hand wrote reference letters. I'm grateful for the time that everyone took in advocating for me, I really am. Maybe I'll never know the answers as to why I wasn't selected- and I'll have to make my own closure on this. I just wish that I could know why. It feels like a bad break up!
