I follow Britain and Ireland news. The cost of food, rent, and gas have risen just like they have here. Placing blame is pointless, there are many reasons and no short term solutions.

It's not a question of "placing blame."  It's a question of taking responsibility.  We were well on the way to energy independence before and throughout the pandemic. That progress was intentionally and abruptly halted by new policies banning the Keystone pipeline, reducing the permits for drilling on leased land, imposing costly regulations on the few remaining permitted operations, and increasing restrictions on the extraction of our vast resources of natural gas.

Couple that with spending trillions of dollars we didn't have but merely printed up, and we have the highest inflation rate in 40 years. We fell harder and faster than any other country on that score, so comparing our situation to Britain and Ireland is apples and oranges. And now we are running hat-in-hand, like an international beggar with a tin cup, to authoritarian regimes such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia for fossil fuels we were falsely told we didn't need while we "transition" to so-called green energy.

The result? Increasing misery for the most vulnerable.  But you're right about one thing: "There are no short term solutions."  It will take us a lot longer to get out of this mess than it took to make it.

So you want to invade Russia and take their oil?

Who said anything about "invading Russia and taking their oil"?  We don't need their oil and shouldn't have been buying it from them in the first place.  We've got plenty of our own, but cynical government policies prevent us from accessing it and force us to plead with OPEC to sell us what we won't produce ourselves.  That kind of costly ideological stupidity harms everyone, with those who can least afford it bearing the biggest brunt of all.

A... for me.  I want people to have a roof over their heads. That should also provide warmth, a place to sleep and eat and a place to be safe.

I don't want plpe lines that can and have leaked, fracking that contaminates our water and pumps that are unsightly.

I'm willing to pay more to breath clean air and drink safe water.

Well I'll be different and vote D only because DH and I are older retirees who miss eating out at our affordable buffets. 😉 Most of them have closed due to Covid. Don't enjoy eating at restaurants that are pricey and short staffed and frequently not very clean. A, B & C don't really affect us at this stage, but our kids sure feel the pinch of raising families in these trying times. Wish things could be different for them.  Seems that entertainment and technology take such a large percentage of their incomes, something we never had to deal with. These are challenging times, but past generations have faced worse.
