Re: I can't afford to try an item on QVC and pay to return it anymore.

I understand your concern OP. There are lots of online sources for shoes with free shipping & returns...I like shopping for shoes that way because there are so many brands, sizes & colors to choose from, B&M stores have limited choices.

@hannah64 personally I do not order clothing , shoes, appliances, computers,bedding, etc from any home shopping channels. I only order jewelry. I find my best bargins at B/M stores.

Yes, the 'try on' fee here has ensured I rarely order anything I'm not nearly completely sure I'll like when it arrives. No one wants to have absolutely nothing to show for their money when something doesn't work out and I'd guess there's money left over once the actual shipping and return costs are deducted, which spells profit for them.

I don't order as much as I would because of the shipping charges to & from. I can buy from other places where I'm not out shipping charges like that so I will shop at those places. There is no reason why Q cannot put all items ordered on the same day in 1 shipping box for 1 shipping price. Q's sizing is also all over the place when it comes to clothes. Shoe sizing is also off.

@Nightowlz  I'm not so sure about that.  The inventory warehouses where these multiple items are coming from could be in different locations.

@JeanLouiseFinch

I figured that but Q can come up with a way to have some of all items at all warehouses so they can ship that way. It's their problem. It will only get worse with rising shipping costs. Sooner or later Q will have to change their shipping ways or continue to lose business IMO.

I agree with you. It's well past time for them to overhaul and streamline their inventory, warehousing, and product fulfillment practices. They don't care because all these shipping and return fees more than likely net then a profit... I'd also note that while there was a time when QVC might have offered unique and interesting merchandise, personally, I'm not much seeing it these days...

We're all different, enjoy different things and prioritize differently. While I still and will likely always 'mail order' some things, I also sometimes enjoy getting out and shopping around. I often combine doing so with necessary trips, like to the grocery store, etc. The extra fuel I might use to make a stop at a shopping center is negligible and there is only one local shopping center that charges to park. I avoid it because of that and because it's always congested. If I pick up something to eat in my travels, well, I'd have had to feed myself anyway...

I just place the return label over the old label - cross out any bar codes that are still showing on the old label with a sharpie marker.

YES after several tries with shoes!!! It is frustrating. No longer buy shoes from shopping channels ever and never clothes after having to return jeans.

Re: I can't afford to try an item on QVC and pay to return it anymore.

I learned a couple of years ago to only buy shoes at a local B&M store so I can try them on. It's irritating to order a pair, try them on and they absolutely don't fit - then package them back up for a return. Fortunately my postal guy will take light packages so I don't have to make a trip to the PO, but still - it's all a big waste of time. Money isn't an object, but I still don't like to pay that much in shipping for a brand that I can find locally....especially when I luck out with shoes ordered online.

Re: I can't afford to try an item on QVC and pay to return it anymore.

When my mother orders shoes and clothes from qvc that are not to her satisfaction, the first thing she does is get out the tape measure.  Is the clothing the correct measurements according to the information provided by qvc?  Is one pant leg longer? Is one thigh sewn bigger?  Are the shoes too short, too long, too wide, too narrow?  What does the information say at the selling point?  All the above reasons give you just cause to use the defective selection.  Now, if everything is made to specifications you are stuck for the return postage, usually 9.95 for $3 shipping or 11.95 for $5 shipping,  For items you have kept, are you getting your refunds from price reductions? Check all your orders within 30 days from purchasing to see.

Agree OP - not only the cost but I hate hate hate having to package up returns - clean the bag of all UPS stickers - complete the return slip - seal bag for re-shipping - drive to the PO - stand in line.................I see things on Q that look interesting - but i say....No Way.

@fthunt

In case you should ever have to make another return, just turn the bag INSIDE OUT.  Presto, no stickers to clean up.  For me, the re-packaging takes just a minute or two - no biggie.  It's the $$ part that I don't like!

Yes, I put it in my mailbox if small enough, or take it to work for USPS pick up
