Fiats are popular around here but usually in a color other than black. I'm still partial to the mini Coopers.

My son's friend is a VW salesman. He told my son that they're not allowed to sell 50% of the cars that they have sitting out on their lot.

Probably, but while I like much of what the Pope believes and does, there will no Fiats in my life.

He's right about our need to be less materialistic overall, but we also need to remember there are so very many ways to do that.

As far as cars go, I'm one who buys used cars and drives them for as many miles as is safe for an old lady driving alone to do. The Pope's small car is surrounded by large cars which helps protect him from the crazt drivers and trucks the rest of us have to work a little harder to avoid.

Thus, I think the real question is what things big and small can we each do to use fewer of our natural and man-made resources so that there's more to spread around and give hope to more people.
