As I was reading a Wikipedia article about murder hornets, I read this passage:
"In some Japanese mountain villages, the nests are excavated and the larvae are considered a delicacy when fried.[3] In the central Chūbu region, these wasps are sometimes eaten as snacks or an ingredient in drinks. The grubs are often preserved in jars, pan-fried or steamed with rice to make a savory dish called hebo-gohan. The adults are fried on skewers, stinger and all, until the body becomes crunchy.[81]"
My stomach will never recover.

First and foremost, never trust wikipedia as a reliable source.
Second, it's a cultural thing perhaps you or I would not understand.

I was online the other day and saw the strangest title ....
"They are high in protein and plentiful worldwide ... why don't more people eats bugs?"
I didn't bother to read the article.

That IS gross. YUK! I saw a show many years ago where the girl fixed a dish of ants and various things like that and fed it to her boyfriend and it was so ground up, you could not tell what it was. He said okay not bad. She told him what it was, he got REALLY angry and violent. I guess we're not the only ones that think it's gross I guess it's like walking around and see something on the ground and go...ug! food! Let me taste it! hahahahahaha (gag)

I was aware of this for decades but alot of them are scavengers and you don't want to eat that. Most crustaceans are nature's clean up crew and people eat that. I don't eat any sea food. Just don't like it. I'm VERY fussy. I have to like what I'm seeing, know that it's clean, like the smell, like the texture and finally like the taste. I'm basically vegetarian but I was like that since I was a tiny kid. Just choice, has nothing to do with because it's good for ya. ![]()

Meh. Like another poster said, it's a cultural thing. I find it extremely unappealing and wouldn't choose to eat it, but if I were starving and it were my only choice of nourishment, I'd eat it. There were been dozens of times over the course of my career that I had to at least take a tiny bite of something I found revolting. I didn't like it but I survived.

Reminds me of a dinner scene in the second "Indiana Jones" movie....
