Wikipedia is not reliable and anyone can edit it...don't bother with it.I find it to be very helpful, @lovesrecess, in addition to other sources.
Yes it can be helpful @suzyQ3 as "springboard." Many times you will find missing citations and so on. If you really need to do some research on a subject matter wikipedia should not be your go to. Just say'n. It can be edited and the data might not be factual that is the reason it is not always a good reputable source. No one wanting accurate information should use wikipedia as a source.
We'll have to agree to disagree, @gertrudecloset .
Indeed @suzyQ3 . Cause, my professors would have had my head if I used it when I was in school.
Just wanted to explain why I stated it in the first place is all.
I would never have used it as a scholarly source. Of course, there was no wiki when I was in college. If there were computers, they were in their infancy. :-)
No, not just scholarly. For anything. Anything.....anyone can edit the data. I take wiki with a grain of salt. That's just "me." Others can do as they please.
Wiki is typically on the top in most searches. Folk tend to start and stop right there. That's why it's used so prevalently. The OP wasn't discussing anything scholarly and I wasn't talking about anything scholarly @suzyQ3 In addition, I went back as an "adult learner." ![]()

@Susan in California wrote:Well, I suspect that our ancestors ate a lot of things that would disgust us today.
Lots of things, like pickled pigs feet, pork rinds, and cow brains and tongue, chicken and cow livers, just to name a few.
If we really thought about it, what about chicken eggs? Pretty gross, actually, but I love them!

People eat grubs the world over as a high source of protien. I guess if you are culerally raised that way, and you ate hungry the are good. Yuck creeps me out. But grubs and maggots are eaten everywhere but america...we have so much food we throw it out. Let me see, grubs or taco bell???
this is all I can say. I got sick writing the word maggot.
