Re: I am looking forward to things getting back to normal with Christmas over

As usual, I will be celebrating until Jan 6, feast of the Epiphany.

I only got my tree up on the 23rd, I was travelling the week before. But customs vary from family to family--we start late and celebrate across the new year. It all seems to boil down to about 2 weeks of celebration, and that's as much as a reasonable person could want.

It is always nice to set the house back in normal order, but it's about two weeks away for me still.

Re: I am looking forward to things getting back to normal with Christmas over

I love Christmas and am sad it is over! The only part I will be glad about is getting back to eating normal. I simply cannot resist a good home baked cookie! My stomach is not thanking me for this, however -- or my waistline --- or my bottom half!!!! {#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

However, I just love the season and am depressed that it is going, and will soon be gone. Nothing to look forward to now --- but a long cold winter!!!

I'm taking our tree down this morning. By noon, there will be no trace of Christmas here. I had a wonderful day yesterday and we're doing Christmas with my husband's family today at his nephew's house and I'm looking forward to that, but I'm done.

All of our stuff is down and packed away too. I enjoy putting my decorations up early but when Christmas is over I'm done with it LOL!!!

Re: I am looking forward to things getting back to normal with Christmas over

I'm not quite ready to end the season. I love, love, love the holidays. My tree won't come down until after New Years. I will probably leave my "winter type" decorations up until the end of January ~ or later. I love all of the timer lit candles that come on in the evening. It's a fairyland.

I said the same thing on another thread. I could not believe the number of trees I saw on the curbs this morning.{#emotions_dlg.sad}

I agree, it is pathetic that so many take their trees down on the 25th or 26th, many of whom put them up SO early.

I am still putting up Christmas decorations.

After all, there are 12 days of Christmas, and December 26th is only the first one.

It amazes me that so many here don't "get" this. My tree will stay up at least until the 6th, and my outside lights a bit longer.

Re: I am looking forward to things getting back to normal with Christmas over

Some people have job or health issues that determine when and what they do with seasonal/holiday decor, and others have family or religious traditions, and to each their own.

I like to enjoy the decor and music and things until after the first of the year, but I am looking forward to getting things packed up and start on the annual 'spring' cleaning and decluttering.

Until then, I'll not rush the season away and enjoy it.

Pathetic is an interesting choice of words.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
