I read our local paper every day and they published the mother's blog and the Kelly health struggles, tweets, Instagrams and blogs every day. Both on Page One.

People deal with death in different ways. Until one has walked in her shoes.....
I went back and read her final posts...she says that she has to move forward for the sake of her two living children & her unborn baby.
I said I am conflicted...I sympathize with her and actually cried over her posts...but I wonder if we are all oversharing. People used to write in diaries with locks on them.
My comment was in regard to your #16. Did you retract that? Please re-read the title of this post.
Okay. My comment stands then. Judging how someone deals with their pain of losing their child.

When I was going thru cancer and having chemo and radiation I felt I could have written a book because I felt I was in a different world and I imagine a lot of other people feel that too and a lot of cancer books are written. I had strangers come up to me and say is that a chemo haircut and I really appreciated that.
I'm not drawn to read these blogs but that doesn't mean I might not see one that I would be interested in reading. I feel it helps to know someone else's experiences.
Edited by me to add
I also think some people make up stories that have no truth.

Scottie - stop acting like a dog with a bone...that's MY job.
I said I was CONFLICTED - I see positives AND negatives to sharing intimate details of your life with strangers....what is it you don't get about that?

Journaling (in a book or on a blog) is healthy for stable mental health, but once written it does not need to be shared especially not for fund raising.

for some of them, it's a way to handle their own emotional conflict...........it's hard to be "the strong one" when someone is counting on you and you have to be their strength too...it allows you to deal with your fears, your anxiety, then be able to go back and be that pilliar of strength for the person in your life that needs you to be.....it can also help others who are going through a similar situation........I see where they have value........maybe not for all, but certainly for the ones ithat really need it...............................raven

I don't think anyone has a right to put in print what a minor child is going through. Be it sickness or death.
Who's to say the child would want the world to know their struggle, their last breath?
Where's the dignity for that child? Children should have rights to privacy too. What about HIPPA rights?
If a parent/guardian wants to talk about it, go to counseling or group therapy. Don't put it out there for the world to see, just because it helps you. Sometimes you have to put yourself aside and think about the consequences to others' feelings.
