Not sure how I feel about it. I agree, I think some people blog about total ridiculousness, like what toothpaste they used to brush their teeth and what cereal they are choosing for breakfast. The internet is a cool and crazy place, and some people clutter it. I do think blogging is awesome when it comes to people sharing loss or hardships.... particularly those stories you hear about people with some rare disease or condition. When parents have either lost a child, or are enduring confusing medical problems and they think they are alone, and doctors have no answers and haven't heard of other cases.... these people blog about it and sometimes they find just one other family that is going through the same thing. Also, people that are suffering and sharing their human experience, sometimes it raises awareness, sometimes it raises money, but even if it just touches one other person to let them know they are not alone, it can't be a bad thing. In every tragedy there has to be some hope, and not all blogging is about suffering. Lots of people blog about their joys and achievements, and that is inspiring and provides ideas and motivation to others. Again, I don't want to read about someone contemplating a pop tart or cheerios for breakfast, but I definitely find purpose in people's realness.

I have no problem with people posting about their own journey, illnesses and such. People who post about others in their lives though, unless they have explicit agreement to do so is a violation of other peoples rights to privacy and that includes children. Based on my own personal experiences, I know my loved ones would have been mortified to have personal details divulged indiscriminately.

I don't know whether to cry or spit reading that sentence.
Shocking...huh?

It takes more effort, and more people involved in reviewing, editing and ensuring that all the necessary releases are obtained to publish a book or make a movie. There are no such safeguards taking place with social media.

And it starts....
Oh well, not surprised in the least.

Everyone copes in his own way. I, however would choose to spend my time with a terminally-ill loved one rather than being perched on the computer.

Ever think that some of these bloggers are sitting near their loved ones when they blog??? I don't blog, but when my dad was in hospital I was there all the time except to come home and shower and eat something. I took my laptop with me at times, just to stay in touch with some friends and keep myself busy while I watched him sleep. Being on the computer doesn't mean someone isn't spending time with someone, whether they are terminally ill, or just sick and recovering.
