I was excited since the yeastier the bread the better.  I don't know if it has a yeast taste or not, all I could taste was SALT.  I guess it might be good in a recipe, but not by it's self Smiley Surprised

@monicakm  I found this interesting as I didn't have a clue what marmite was.  Is it related to vegemite?  My aunt is from Australia and I had to ask her about vegemite, where it's common.

That stuff is nasty 🤢

My English grandma put some on bread for me to try. I did love the chocolate spread though.

Use very sparingly.

Marmite and vegemite are both yeast extracts but do taste different. Vegemite has onion and celery and additional spices. That sounds better but I think vegemite is bitter. If I had to pick I’d take marmite, although I don’t love either.

I've never had marmite but have tried vegemite and didn't care for it...whatsoever.  I tasted it years ago but it looked and smelled (and probably tasted) like this stuff in a tube we gave our cat for hairballs.Cat LOL

Marmite contains about 30% of one's daily salt intake. What would people use this for?  Like Bouillion?   Flavor soups. ?

When we lived in England it was mostly spread on toast, ewww.

Vegemite is pretty yukky too.  As you say super salty.

@rockygems123   you are right!  When we were in England late 80's they did serve on toast or fry bread.  Ouch.  But I haven't seen it much last 10 years when I have been there.
