Goodness, there sure is a lot of sniping going on over this post! I don't watch live programming, so it doesn't really bother me that the Christmas shows seem to be starting early. I check recently aired program to see if there's anything that might interest me - and the Christmas shows do not interest me. That said, I'm not going to be snarky and tell the OP to change the channel....she's a viewer and has a right to mention her dislike of seeing Christmas programming in June, and I agree with her. Yes, she did go over the edge a bit.
In looking at the list of recently aired items, it looks to me like there aren't many things being sold so far that would make great gifts...most of it appears to be home decorating and food, and there's not one person on my list who wants or needs more decorative items or expensive food shipping from the Q. And at my age, I'm not going to be buying more decor either....the food is a non-event because I can find less expensive alternatives than what the Q offers. The point is that CI June, July and August are overboard to some of us and it should be okay to say that. If you don't like the comments, then just don't read them....oh-oh, that sounds too much like "just change the channel"!!

The meaning of Christmas is not about gifting and shopping.
Perhaps I missed that comment, but I didn't see where anyone was talking about the "meaning" of Christmas.
Giving holiday presents certainly isn't new. Some people go a little overboard, and some people don't even exchange gifts. People everywhere often celebrate according to their family's long time established traditions.

@jannabelle1 I think what a lot of us took issue with is NOT that she dislikes the CIJ programming--that's understandable, no one likes ALL programs--it's the dramatic "I HATE CHRISTMAS THANKS TO QVC" that prompted a lot of our replies. If TV programming ruins Christmas for her, she has bigger problems than a home shopping channel. Or maybe she's an over-dramatic person anyway...those people just make me tired!

QVC likes to feature items and events that sell. Obviously CIJ is very popular, and QVC does well. Nobody forces you to watch it. If you hate Christmas, you have bigger problems than a shopping channel.
I already ordered one advance item, and I am hoping some of my other favorites will come up on the website soon!
I love to shop for the holidays, and I start the day AFTER Christmas for the next year, so I do not find CIJ too early. I actually think it is very cute and convenient, and it helps me stay organized in advance.
In this day and age, it's smart to shop early for several reasons:
It helps people budget especially if you have a large number of gifts to buy. It also helps to assure that items are gonna be in stock, especially with supply chain blips that they say will continue...... And also the delivery services (Amazon, UPS, USPS, Fed Ex) get overwhelmed at Christmas time and you might not get your gifts in time if you wait until the traditional time to order online---the day after Thanksgiving .......So VIVA CIJ!

Retailers have marketing seasons and they don't coincide with the traditional calendar's seasons. If any retailer waits until after Thanksgiving to push Christmas, they're in big trouble. Those Christmas shopping $$$ have already landed into another retailer's cash register.
I worked in retail for over 25 years and lived through 25 Christmas shopping seasons in both good and bad times. Nothing I ever experienced, be it cranky customers, increased work loads, longer hours, 24/7 Christmas music, etc. ever made me hate Christmas, nor would I let it.
Quite honestly, the general consensus among people who have worked retail is that the same customers who come in the store to complain about not wanting to see anything Christmas before Thanksgiving are the same customers who come Christmas shopping several days before Christmas and complain that everything is picked over and there's basically nothing left to buy. 😑
I totally agree...and also like what happens around here on the Forums ---we see numerous complaints they didnt get their orders in time for Christmas even if a retailer guaranteed it---ya got the weather to contend with in winter, or staffing issues with the delivery services, or even if you shop locally issues with the supply chain and now gas prices for the trucking industry!

Very true---with all the shopping done early it gives one time to really enjoy the holiday and take in all the other festivities associated with the season instead of all the hectic running around, fighting crowds if you in store shop or waiting on pins and needles for your online order to arrive!

@vermint wrote:To all of you who "hate Christmas" because of the $'s spent buying junk for people who probably don't appreciate it, the general commercialization of it, etc....has it ever occurred to any of you that you can step back from all that, and make of the holiday what YOU want it to be?
We did that many years ago. We told our families we would no longer be buying gifts, except for our parents. We have many siblings, in-laws, nieces & nephews on both sides and it just got to be too much! They all continued to buy each other gifts, and we watched them open presents at family gatherings with pleasure...and also stress-free because we hadn't had to think about the "perfect" gift for any of them, or about how to pay the bills after Christmas. Instead of exchanging gifts with friends, we go out to a nice dinner. None of us, family or friends, needs more stuff to find a place for.
While I love to shop, shopping for gifts for Christmas was no longer enjoyable. So--now we go to our church events, watch Christmas movies and specials on TV, give each other one or two simple gifts to open on Christmas morning, and enjoy the beauty and true meaning of the season--without all the frantic shopping, cooking, running around. It's wonderful!
My family and friends do the same--only about 4 of us still exchange gifts---mostly it's either a gift card or we make a donation to that person's favorite charity and we set a limit of $25. We spend the rest of the time enjoying all the city's Christmas events, festivities, and concerts etc etc....And enjoy driving around looking at Christmas displays, and there's the candlelight services and a nice meal out together....
