Re: I NOW HATE CHRISTMAS THANKS TO QVC!

I don't know how the hosts can stand having to present all that junk over and over for months on end.

Part of what makes Christmas so special to me is anticipating the holidays and all the decorations.  If I had to look at it starting from now, I would be so sick of it.

Re: I NOW HATE CHRISTMAS THANKS TO QVC!

To all of you who "hate Christmas" because of the $'s spent buying junk for people who probably don't appreciate it, the general commercialization of it, etc....has it ever occurred to any of you that you can step back from all that, and make of the holiday what YOU want it to be?

We did that many years ago. We told our families we would no longer be buying gifts, except for our parents. We have many siblings, in-laws, nieces & nephews on both sides and it just got to be too much! They all continued to buy each other gifts, and we watched them open presents at family gatherings with pleasure...and also stress-free because we hadn't had to think about the "perfect" gift for any of them, or about how to pay the bills after Christmas. Instead of exchanging gifts with friends, we go out to a nice dinner. None of us, family or friends, needs more stuff to find a place for.

While I love to shop, shopping for gifts for Christmas was no longer enjoyable. So--now we go to our church events, watch Christmas movies and specials on TV, give each other one or two simple gifts to open on Christmas morning, and enjoy the beauty and true meaning of the season--without all the frantic shopping, cooking, running around. It's wonderful!

Wow, @Secretariat1  you took quite a hit for just expressing how you feel! Some of the condescending posts are more telling about the poster than the OP. I happen to like Christmas in July. It gives me a warm feeling. However, I get what you are saying, and I also get you don’t mean it as literal as some are interpreting. Talk about drama.

It's not just QVC, it happens at our local stores too.

Went to Hobby Lobby this week and they had a huge selection of fall/autumn decor.  I'm sure as soon as they remove the 4th of July decor, that will be replaced with Christmas.

Re: I NOW HATE CHRISTMAS THANKS TO QVC!

I'm not following you.  I don't participate in CIJ.  Christmas is my favorite holiday and favorite time of the year.  I don't need or want fake Christmas in the middle of summer.  So, I ignore CIJ.  Even if I watched the shows, seeing Christmas merchandise would not in any way take away from my Christmas experience.  I see that many people are excited by CIJ and they look forward to it so I am happy for them.

I think I like CIJ more than the non-stop Christmas programming that comes later. It's going to be extremely hot this weekend so I'll watch some of the shows.

@BunSnoop, You are so right. In the retail world, July 5th is definitely the unofficial start of the Christmas retail shopping season. Better buy that winter coat when it's too hot to wear it and buy that swimsuit when it's too cold to wear it. That's just how retail rolls.

Whatever commercial retail outlets do or don't do has nothing to do with the religious side of Christmas.

What they sell is no different than shoes and blenders as far as the religious holiday--at least that's how I feel about it.

Re: I NOW HATE CHRISTMAS THANKS TO QVC!

To all of you who hate the CIJ shows on the Q, I completely understand. The retailers that do this is because they are a year ahead of all seasons and if they wait for you to make decisions for them they would no longer be in business. The reason everything is made in China is because of us the consumers who wanted affordable goods, most of everything we used at one time or another was made in this country until we started to complaining about prices. We live in a country where we can live the way we want to without being forced to do so. Our lives are very well lived with choices that does make us happy. QVC is a shopping channel and now you want them to change their model to suit you and i don't why they need to. We as consumers have allowed ourselves to ruin well meaning businesses because we had no need for them and I feel it is ashame. They have helped a lot of businesses in the pass but I hope that even if you don't like CIJ on the Q remember there are people who really need this to survive, Some of these businesses are small and not all of the products are junk, we caused this. Most products will never be made in this country because it will not be cost effective and besides if complain about it now, you will fine a reason later.

It's only June 23 and QVC is foaming at the mouth to exploit Christmas once again. I don't know why they just don't start in January....all I know is that they have turned me so off to this holiday that by the time Christmas comes I'm sick of it and can't wait for it to end. Absolutely hate it.

You're blaming QVC ???  Take your time spent on watching QVC and choose another activity that pleases you.
