OMG Sunny, those photos took my breath away; not only because of the beauty but also because of the memories they evoked.
Ever since childhood I've had a recurring dream. The dream itself deals with a horrible event but at the same time I am overwhelmed with peace and serenity. The location of this dream is almost identical to that portrayed in the photos. The only thing missing is a gently flowing brook and mossy ground.

It's pronounced....Ko-Mo-RAY-Bee
Thank you sidsmom! Ko Mo RAY bee. All my life I've admired such beauty but never knew it had a name. I just thought it was sunlight shining through beautiful leaves. I didn't know it had a name. Now I know what it's called.

Beautiful pictures. I tried to think of a word in English to describe this and....your right...can't seem to get it to one word! Filtered sunlight sounded terrible and then I came up with "sun, peeking through the trees"....way too long and sounds like the first line of a poem..Ha! I really never thought about this before. Interesting post. One of my English teachers required us to learn a new word every week. Never thought about doing it in a different language. Great idea!

Thank you for sharing this. Komorebi is one of my favorite sights. It always makes me stop and enjoy. Like the rest of you, I appreciate now having the perfect word to use.
And @TNRatPack, I was also watching the moonlight filtering through the clouds.
I am making an effort to use "komorebi" a lot from now on so the word will stay with me.

It's a beautiful sight and nice to know there's a word in at least one language to describe it !!
