@SharkE I dare them to pry my extra money from my hands. They actually deposit it, it's MINE!
I only asked for half. They want to tip me for being an extraordinary American, I'm worth it. ![]()

@Nightowlzwrote:Well I would not spend it if you don't have it coming to you.
I would double check your return. Take the deposit & then deal with sending them their money back so you don't have to wait even longer to get your refund.
There is some type of scam I heard them say something about on the news. It was getting a refund you don't expect & spend it to only have to pay it back.
They amended ours once & wanted a check for balance due. They lost my W-2 so sent it to them so they would send our refund. No way they lost my W-2 as both W-2's were attached with a paper clip. Someone was just being an $&*%$#.
@Nightowlz When I did my taxes this year, I got a crazy refund amount like this and was like no way. So I thought I had found the error which made it more in line with what I normally receive. Apparently, I shouldn't have second guessed myself. I hear you though.

@Sookie Says You know in order to get a refund you must first pay it in - the refunds aren't a gift from the government. They are REFUNDING what you over paid.

@Laura14 Must have something to do with the new tax changes. We get our tax cut now for a few years but have to start paying more then we were before this started in a few years so we can pay for the permanent tax cut the rich gets. Not fair IMO. You probably won't even see that $700 refund after it goes into place 3-4 yrs down the road. I'm not sure how many years our tax cut is for but not long enough.
I still need to do our taxes. Since my dad passed away last month I just have not thought about it until reading your post. Guess I need to get them done just don't feel like messing with it.

I definitely would want to know why the difference. Where was your error?

@151949 Exactly so I don't understand why some people don't get that. We about break even with the state but get a refund from the federal. If we change our deductions we would end of paying both at the end of the year. Only way around that is have them deduct x amount so we break even with the federal too.

WARNING ABOUT EXCESS REFUNDS!!
Beware of the latest tax refund scam that I just read about this morning in the Atlanta metro newspaper. IRS supposedly has issued a warning about it and said thousands have been duped already.
Crooks get your bank account info and refund amounts (sometimes from tax preparers who must be part of the scam) and then arrange for too much of a refund to be deposited in your bank account.
Then you get contacted by crooks claiming to be from the IRS, demanding the excess refund back...........and people are falling for this, because they don't want to mess with the IRS.
