Re: I Know It's Necessary....

I was thinking the same thing. So many sports, and clubs and maybe even graduation for seniors may be impacted.

It's a time in their lives they should be living to the fullest, and it is indeed sad they may have to miss out on things. Wonder what will happen with proms too.

Re: I Know It's Necessary....

I had to pick up my grandchildren today and my granddaughter was telling me how their sports games, etc. have been cancelled too. She also said their teacher conferences have been cancelled.  I guess the school board is meeting tonight to decide whether to close the schools.

I feel sorry for people who will lose their livihoods and will have no income to feed their families.  The kids whose sports and social activities are disrupted will soon get over it.  There are many much more serious consequences to this epidemic.

Hopefully they will reschedule these events, when this virus dies down.

Re: I Know It's Necessary....

My nephew who graduates from university in May has already told we official "old people" to plan on attending only the celebration gathering at his parent's home.    Only his sister and parents will attend the graduation exercises, if they are even held.  He has requested I bring my deviled eggs and Tunnel of Fudge cake for the buffet table.  (I have been known to make him his own Tunnel of Fudge cake for later snacking.)

I'm really not sure how else a situation like this can be handled. We all want the best for our children and grandchildren. It is hard to see them unhappy, but we want them to be safe. It is a sad situation for schools and their activities, but hopefully things will improve soon.

Most schools will make up those type of events at a later time in the year. It is not the same but it is an effort to say thank you and good bye to the athletes and parents. Over my years of teaching many events have had to be cancelled for many weather, world issues, trama's etc. None the less is disappointing to the students. You a good grandmom to notice.
