Many singers have had this happen and after surgery and rest for their voice have come back as strong or stronger than ever. I hope she can do the same. Wishing her the best.

Didn't ADELE and also CELINE DION have something wrong with their vocal cords? I think ADELE had just started singing again.

Oh dear, I hope it's not true too.
Different singers have had vocal chord problems over the years but I don't know about actual cancer. Anyway, I wish her well.

And Sam Snith, and Mehgan Trainor, and Rod Stewart.
Not all cancer, but throat surgery for various bleeding vocal cords etc.
Hope Janet is OK. I saw she cancelled a bunch of dates.

I certainly hope nothing is wrong with her. But, I can not help wondering if she just isn't up to touring like she used too. You know I have heard it takes alot out of you both mentally and physically.

I don't know about Janet Jackson but I will say that my daughter lives in Denver and when she had 1/2 of her thyroid removed her Dr sent us to a throat specialist to get a record of her voice in case her vocal cords were damaged during the operation (it sometimes happens).
He was an old guy who had pictures signed by many famous actors and singers. We talked to him about it and he said he takes care of their throats. He said he has captured every nuiance and sound of their voices so that if they need operations (like you spoke about, etc) he knows how and where to compare the sounds.
He said some singers use their vocal cords to sing in a way that (had they not) made a living and used those same cords the same way they'd be fine but because some of them (like Mariah Carey) use them (like to reach a high note) if they do it over and over entertaining it can cause cysts, etc. that need to be removed.
Remember Julie Andrews felt like she could never sing the same after she had that operation on her throat? To the public she still sounded wonderful but to her it wasn't the same and she said she'd never sing in public again.
I've always thought female singers seem to try to reach levels that are sometimes unusual and this causes problems.
I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to have the operation and wonder if it will mess up your voice.

Many singers experience different issues with vocal cords for various reasons. One girl I went to high school with was in choir for many years and developed vocal nodes and had to stop singing for months before she was cleared to do so again. Celine Dion did have to have surgery for another issue, I saw a show about her (maybe it was on 60 Minutes) years ago and she used sign language backstage to preserve her voice. Some people recover well, some have partial or significant loss of quality or vocal range, and some never recover. It's sort of like making it onto a major league football team and getting injured or blowing out a knee.

I'm sure they will refund your tickets OP if you were going.

Wow, was I wrong to assume the OP was less worried about money than the fear that Janet Jackson may have cancer?
