Re: I Have to be Quarantined

@wismiss ...Do you live alone?  If you are alone the time may drag but it is amazing how fast time passes.  Before you know it, it will all be over.  Make sure you have enough to do to keep yourself busy and good luck with procedure.  I had it done and was amazed how quickly it was over and never felt a thing.  The worst of course is the preparation prior to the procedure.  Sending good thoughts your way.   Heart

Re: I Have to be Quarantined

  1. I pray you come out well and you of course will.
  2. While my husband is retired, he served 35 years in U.S. Army Special Ops and we were separated for over a year and on more than a few occasions.
  3.  You’ll be fine for a “few” days.

Thank you for your replies.  I do live alone, so I am used to keeping myself busy.  And, I am a stay at home person since this thing started and just go out to go get groceries about once every two weeks.    And, I was surprised about the quarantine after having the Covid test until the time of the procedure.  Three and a half days is nothing compared to the number of days I have sheltered in place voluntarily, it's just the fact that I don't have a choice of whether to go out or not.  When the appointment was made about three months ago (they booked that far out not knowing what the status would be in three months), they weren't aware of the parameters, so that is why they could not inform me about the quarantining at that time.

And, yes, I know how much more terrible the prep is than the actual procedure.  I have had several colonoscopies over the years.  My mother died of colon cancer and that is why I decided to keep the appointment and not delay it.  I have already stocked my shelves with the things I can have the day before and made notes to myself about what not to eat or vitamins to take five days before the procedure.  So, I'm all set.  As someone said, I just want to get this behind me.

Guess I'll be burning up the phone lines after Sunday's test.  And, if I can think of pertinent topics, maybe posting here, too.

Again, thank you for all your thoughts.

You are not isolated. You can go outside and call friends/family!

@Tinkerbell3 Not everyone has family.  Just a reminder.  That's not an option, but a fact.

Re: I Have to be Quarantined

Good luck with your colonoscopy. Three days is not bad at all. You can go outside or go for a ride, just don’t be near people. It’s good the facility is being cautious....I wonder how many people don’t even listen though.

I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy next Thursday.  I have to go to the hospital/clinic on Sunday morning for a Covid test.  Then, I have been told I must go directly home and stay home with no visitors until I go to the clinic on Thursday for the procedure.  I didn't realize that I would have to be isolated for three and a half days.  Wow!!!

When I was scheduled for my cataract surgery on June 17, I was crazed staying away from people as best I could for a month prior to surgery. Then after I had my Covid test I was even more obsessed about not getting sick so I still stayed away from people. I waited so long for my surgery that I desperately needed, so I wasn't taking any chances.

Re: I Have to be Quarantined

I have to have a procedure done next week that requires me to have a Covid test as well, between 48 and 72 hours before the procedure.  They haven't said anything but I just told my DH last night that I wondered if I was going to have to get tested and then isolate until my procedure.

It makes perfect sense but I'm not going to be happy if that is the case because they should have told me that.  When the procedure was scheduled they told me I'd be tested but never said anything and when the hospital called to pre-register me for the procedure, they told me I would be called to set up the Covid test but she never said anything about isolation either.
