Well I love winter, but I am stuck in FL for the time being.  I lived in northern Ohio for 47 years, so I know what it is like.  Love the cold.  Love the snow, the deeper the better.  Don't really like the gray skies though.  When the skies in FL get gray for a few days in a row, like they are now, it affects my mood.  We all have to make the best of where we live.

Another winter hater here and I live in Northern California. It gets cold here in the Bay Area.

We live in a 4 season area of the country because we like the changes, along with not being a state with high millions of residents. Because ice hockey has always been a big part of my life, without winter, it wouldn't be the same.

And for those that count calories! Your body burns more calories to stay warm, than it does with all that sweating to cool you down.

Re: I Hate Winter

[ Edited ]

Great topic, @Jordan2

I grew up in New England & I remember loving Winter.  As a child, checking out the window to see if the sidewalks were plowed, cause NO SCHOOL if they were not.

Loved playing in the snow, sledding down hills, ice skating on a frozen lake, and as an young adult, loved the *hush* & *aroma* of the "\/1rg1n white snow" falling at midnight, when everyone is tucked away, warm inside, & the "people noises" are minimal.

But there, the summer heat & esp humidity was totally intolerable, (& of course not many old homes had Air Conditioners).

I remember, as a young adult, watching "Dr. Zhivago twice in a row, at an A/C'd Movie Theatre, just to cool off, esp during the "Winter Scenes"!

In the 1970s, I moved more South, & since then,, "my blood has turned p*** thin!"    Cold isn't my "thang" anymore. (with 1-2 exceptions, as follows)!

I confess, even now, each "new, 1st snow," of winter, I still wrap up in a dark coat (where I can see the snowflakes land on my clothes), so I can go outside, to love to smell, hear, see & feel the snow, just like I was a "little kid" again.

And 1st "wet snow," I just *have* to run out,  & throw some snowballs!

But then, its inside "until the melt," & Spring.

     Dec-March, I hibernate.

I'm with @CrazyKittyLvr2   I dont like, & body cant tolerate the extremes of weather.

In Winter, I ache/hurt all over: Dont like to be wrapped up in thick clothes.

But I dont like the bugs, & sweat in the heat of Summer either.

And thank goodness for a continued dousing of the cold water from the outside hose, thruout the summer, when I do chores outside, in 90-110 weather.

Each year, I look to buy & wear, less & less clothes, (at least that the neighborhood would permit!)

If weather remained btw 65/70 - 80/85, year round, I think I'd be happy,

(other than missing the above 1st snow).

And *NO* earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, floods, or any other climate calamities!  And bugs (HATE, esp house bugs!).

Autumn is nice tho.

In fact, when I get to heaven, I'm curious - I plan to ask, "what's the reason for the seasons?"  I figure the reason will be a whole lot smarter than I've come up with.

Not asking much, eh?  heh

I hate winter because some people don't take care of their animals and they have no choice but to suffer. I can always get warm but those poor creatures who don't have someone who cares have to suffer. I do what I can but sometimes the people are not willing to do anything or even let me. I have given blankets to dogs when it gets really cold. Sometimes they won't even let me. I can't stand to see anyone cold. We are in the south so this is thankfully not an issue very often. But this one coming will be miserable. Yuck. Makes my stomach hurt.

I'm right there with you.  It's miserable.  It's just conducive to a negative mindset.  That's why bears sleep through it all, lol.

And because some people don't take care of them properly during the winter - so many children, elderly, and animals truly suffer during the cold icy months.

Sorry, I LOVE the cold, snowy weather. And, I'm looking forward to the day I can move back to that kind of winter!

Where I live now, we are having what they call a "cold snap". I walk every day and people are calliing me nuts, lol. I get invigorated by the cold. And, those walks clear my head and calm me from any stress I'm going through.

Hoping and wishing on our lucky stars that the glaciers won't melt next Summer and for many more Summers.

Well, again, hoping that there's a good, healthy balance of temperatures.

Keep well and safe, including pets and outdoor animals.

I'm a California transplant in the DMV and Winter is my least favorite season. I like the outdoors and outdoor activities and I've noticed that I feel much better when I force myself to run or hike on those short, cold, Winter days.

hmm..

Today the temp dipped to the 30s, from a fairly consistent 60's+ & I seem to have lost feeling & grab-ability of the left hand of my significantly arthritic whole body.   Let's hope this is merely due to the cold weather, (altho I need both hands, at a minimum, for the next 3 months (& thereafter)!
