i lived in MN most of my life. Grew up loving the snow. My family were downhill skiers. We loved it and I became a ski instructor in my late teens.

Fast forward to about 5 years ago. I looked at the thermometer, it read -54 degrees, that didn't include windchill. That was it. We became snowbirds for awhile, then made a permanent move to the no snow zone.

Have never, ever, been more happy! My bones love it!

It's supposed to be 10 here Friday morning and a high Friday and Saturday of 24.  That's really, really low for us.  Fortunately, no snow or ice in the forecast.  Cold rain here tomorrow. It is gloomy and rainy just about every day.

I live much further north than you but on Friday it is supposed to be warm in the morning (like near 60) then drastically drop through the day so by early evening it will be in the teens.  We are supposed to have rain all day as well but they are warning with the drastic drop in temperature we will have a flash freeze turning those wet roads to ice.  So don't be so sure you will not have the same senario in Atlanta.

@ninjawife - I assume nothing with Atlanta weather.  We have been blindsided before.  I just finished my errands and have a full tank of gas in my car and groceries and I can stay home, even if I don't want to, till it warms up again.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@CrazyKittyLvr2  You're so right about the price of heating oil. We've been keeping our thermostat at 63 because of it.

Ugh!  I feel the same way!  You just reminded me that today was the first day of winter...yes it does go on much longer than it should!....it really doesn't end until sometime in April.....much too long!!!

@Jordan2

You hate winter (I love our Texas "winters") but I HATE SUMMER----heat, humidity, and insect invasions! I'll be happy to trade----we sound similar to Heat Miser/Snow Miser in the animated "Year Without A Santa Claus" 😉😄

I run warm/hot and enjoy it.

Each season has its minuses and pluses - there's always something to appreciate.

Although the in-between ones always seem shorter; bummer.

@amyb I was born in July too! I work and don't like to drive in the snow and ice, I'm a white knuckle driver! I hate  having to shovel and scraping ice and snow off my car. I try not to make any doctor's appointments in Winter, I try to hold off until Spring if I can.

@Jordan2  Winter is my least favorite of the seasons.  I LOVE the summer even though we have some very oppressive humidity here in Mississippi.  I generally feel more depressed in the winter also.  The trees are bare and the ground is brown, there is nothing cheerful about the doom and gloom of winter for me!

I've always lived in Michigan and will probably never move, but I HATE winter.

Fall lasts about 2 weeks, and then it's gray and cold.

We are now stuck until about May.

Good thing I enjoy reading!

As I sit here battling the flu, I'm right there with you! I HATE cold weather and, laugh if you want, I live in northeast Texas. We have such gray, gloomy days. The darkness sets in at 5:30PM and stays until almost 7:00AM and most days stays cloudy all day. Soooo depressing! I often tell friends that I wish I could just hibernate like the bears do - sleep through winter and awaken to sunny and warm Spring.😁😁
