My husband has a union job, and when contract time rolls around, all the guys pee and moan about getting more money (and they are paid very well). My husband is always trying to get them to understand that another dollar per hour per year means nothing if that great health insurance (practically free) is lost along with some other of their great benefits. We have better health insurance than anyone we know, and that means more to us than money.

I too, spent a number of years in a job that had good benefits, but less than stellar pay. I stayed because I like the job well enough and making more money would not have replaced those benefits.
