@rms1954 Since they tell you that you look nice, you do. They don't necessarily need to "grab" your arm to give you the compliments you get. In sales pitch talk grab your arm means the same as telling you that you look nice in what you are wearing. I'm sure your game is just fine.

I have that same bag and several of the accessories.
Bought it in 2010 when I retired and still love it.
I did a search yesterday and one of the most recent versions is pink. Very pretty, but the copper is a classic.
Absolutely! I've even had Brahmin saleswomen comment on my copper version, while I was shopping in the Brahmin Dept.and they were showing other colors of the Copa, but the copper is no longer available and hasn't been for years.
I don't know why Brahmin doesn't bring that color back, I think they could make a fortune!

LOL! I used to avoid those guys like the plague! Always said I was allergic and crossed over to the other side!

I have been asked where I got clothes, shoes , jewelry and bags over the years. Sometimes women who saw me frequently at work asked where I shopped. Probably because I always mix high end and thrift or inexpensive. Some things were from QVC like the GILI tote that was a tsv when LR was there (the ostrich embossed version). Lots of women wanted to know where I got my black multicolor LV Alma as it was hard to find. In the 90's men (a lot of men) wanted to know where I got my Tova Signature fragrance. My funniest time was when I went to a country club event with a resident (physician in training) and wore a $5 red mini dress off a sale rack from KMart (I was a poor single mom at the time). I told the truth when asked where I got the dress.

I am not a purse person. Most of my life I would go to JC Penney's, buy a nice purse and use it until it was shot. Then I would repeat that! A few years ago my sister and BIl were travling in Missouri (where they said the people were just the sweetest) and she brought me back a Vera Bradley purse.
A couple of years ago VB was having a sale so she said go online and pick one out and it's my treat.
And I have been stopped probably 50 times whenever I am out shopping (usually at Safeway!) and asked where I got my purse or "is that a Vera Bradley purse?"
I have been asked that by women as young as 19 or 20 who all say how much they love VB! I tell them how I got the purse and they say "Wow your sister sounds nice." and I say yes, she is!

I've worked in retail, and people have often asked me there...of course, usually hoping it's in the store.
I also recall my favorite pair of Ryka skimmers (wish they'd offer cute skimmers again), I used to wear working retail, (we didn't sell shoes there) and almost daily someone would say they "loved them, where did I get them."
I've had people ask me in other places too, in my old office job, out and about also in restaurants, while shopping etc.
I've complimented people at times, asking if they'd mind sharing where they found something I liked.
All that said...it's a "sales pitch" that doesn't move me, because not once do I decide what to buy because I think people will stop and ask me "Omg!! Where did you get that?!" (SG's fav line)
It just has to wow me!

@KingstonsMom @Witchy Woman I have that same handbag. Got it back in 2010-11. Learned about here and fell in love with it because of the palm trees and the "woody" cars and the beautiful copper color. I carry it every summer. I have been complimented on it many times when out, even by a man. It's the only Brahmin I have and the quality is the best.
I stopped a woman one time a couple years ago who had the same bag but in a different color which couldn't compare to the copper. Unfortunately, I didn't have mine with me at the time.

Frequently I hear Q hosts and brand ambassadors stating ... "you will need this on your next cruise, or while visiting the beach in Malibu." While it all sounds nice, 90% of Q's clientele is wondering how to pay for gas and groceries. Malibu will have to wait.

Nobody ever asks me about anything I wear. I do have good memories of a very cheap, jean material bag that had some kind of cute face or animal on it. It was huge and I used it to carry my dad's things when he was in the hospital. I got so many comments about that bag. People would say it brightened their day. That always made me so happy that a small thing like that touched their day.

Oh my, yes, I have received many compliments. I only shop online with HSN, ShopHQ, QVC and a few others. (I'm pretty standard size and my daughters are about my size so they get anything that is not exactly as I hoped). As many mentioned, it's how you put things together. I worked at a middle school site and constantly rec'd compliments. I would be asked to come to the main office so staff could see my outfit of the day. I acquired many many clothing items through the years I worked, so much so, that I never wore the same outfit twice within a school year. Well, I quit working just a couple weeks ago and no longer need work attire. I put out the hundreds of clothing items for family and friends to go through and take what they wanted. It was a frenzy. Basically, I believe, it's the attitude you carry when wearing your clothes and jewelry. I will say, however, a host made the comment they were complimented on an item, basic Denim and Co pants and for the life of me I couldn't understand a stranger stopping you and asking about those particular jeans. I really was a walking advertisement for QVC though. ![]()
